Job Description : B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
1+ years experience in troubleshooting, root causing, and patching production cloud services, distributed systems, databases, and large-scale software systems.
1+ years of hands on experience with SQL, Linux administration, application servers, continuous integration/deployment tools, and service monitoring platforms.
1+ years experience with cloud computing technologies.
1+ year of programming experience with scripting language such as Ruby and Python or languages such as Java, C, C++, C#.

Job summary
The Alexa Natural Understanding group’s mission is to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities that combine machine efficiency with human attributes of perception, ability to learn and reason, and interaction skills to anticipate and accomplish all customer tasks, outperforming any human expert or any other AI. In support of this mission we build and operate the backbone of NU’s AI infrastructure – Unified Model Building System (UMBS). UMBS brings the power of machine learning to Alexa experience developers (i.e. engineers and scientists) by making it easy to manage the full lifecycle of ML models (data prep, build-train-tune, evaluate and release) within the Alexa ecosystem.

You will be required to deeply understand technology landscapes, and evaluate the use of new technologies. You will be influential within your team and work with peers and senior leaders to define and revise the standards for operational excellence across UMBS systems. You will consistently tackle abstract issues that span multiple functional areas and drive your team to push for improvements that can scale across other teams, services, and platforms.

You understand operational risk and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
You identify operational concerns and resolve, mitigate, or escalate the concerns in a timely manner.
2+ years experience of Cloud Computing concepts and ability to perform deep, technical troubleshooting.
2+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments.
Experience automating routine tasks.
Experience troubleshooting.
Experience with performance and log analysis.
