Purpose:
You will be part of the Customer Technology team focussing on delivering financial services to M&G’s customer base, both direct and through financial advisor community. The team has successfully delivered major transformation initiatives for M&G in the last few years including the delivery of a consolidated One Wealth service platform, Hybrid Advice and over the coming years will use our mature Agile delivery methodology to deliver a step change in Customer Experience across our Advisor and Direct Customer products. Including focus on harnessing the power of data, driving high levels of automation, and broadening our portfolio of products.
Test automation is key to our ability to meet the customer expectations with speed and at scale. Working in collaboration with platform and engineering leads, Test Architect is responsible for putting right frameworks and practices in place to deliver at scale and speed with utmost focus on quality and experience. Test Architect role is key to Test Centre of excellence (TCoE) and pivotal in achieving strategic goals for TCoE.
Role & Responsibilities:
Review Test framework related challenges experienced by the Agile squads, and develop improvement roadmap to improve the velocity and quality of the Agile studio.
Define, design, evaluate and evolve test automation framework to enable maximum test automation.
Standardize Test automation implementation across various teams with heterogeneous technology stack.
Make the performance testing and automation testing a culture within the SDLC framework to apply techniques and incorporate industry standards to achieve a stable, scalable, and performance optimised system.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate tooling for implementation and guiding stakeholders for its benefit and adoption.
Play a key role in the technology chapter, developing the skillset of the M&G team to maintain SME expertise and encourage collaboration across agile squads.
Coaching and team mentoring to drive performance and standards in collaboration with our portfolio test leads and Agile squads.
Lead and role model the team culture of ownership, empowerment, continuous improvement, learning and mutual support
Job & Personal Skills:
Strategic thinker, able to balance velocity, operational cost and risk across short and long term.
Highly experienced in setting test automation framework, leading solution design and end-to-end delivery for Test automation and NFR.
Strong problem analysis/investigation skills and the ability to produce creative sustainable solutions.
Strong communication skills with track record of engaging successfully with senior stakeholders
Understands continuous integration and continuous delivery; capable of building robust, automated testing suites through all environments.
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
The ideal candidate will have:
12+ years of experience in testing automation space of which 2+ years as Test automation architect.
Well versed in different technological implementation from UI to backend, DB and can strategize a holistic automation solution in an agile/ DevOps environment.
Significant experience delivering highly scalable, easy to adopt test automation frameworks and ability to enhance and optimise existing Test automation frameworks
Experience working with a cross-functional, multi time-zone, multi-culture teams underpinned by DevOps culture.
Experience in performance testing with performance engineering mindset.
Experience working with multiple agile squads in a DevOps environment to implement best practices.
Experience evaluating tooling and engaging product vendors on product roadmap and PoCs
Evaluate system and application performance and recommend improvements with a view to tackle changes early in SDLC/STLC cycle.
Have a strong understanding of high-level systems architecture, including concepts such as application servers, databases, middleware, web services.
Worked on various performance testing tools, system monitoring tools and continuous integration, continuous delivery.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. A phenomenal team mate with strong analytical, problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills.
The ability to drive decisions, take initiative and be hands-on
Good to have:
Experience of financial services industry, in particular pensions is beneficial.
