Our Transfer Pricing team specialise in helping organisations understand the pricing implications of goods and services between related parties. We learn how our clients operate, why they succeed, where value lies and how that aligns with international tax rules.
The role will be based in our Operate Transfer Pricing (TP) team. The Operate TP team has the objective of delivering efficient, high quality TP work as part of the TP delivery hub particularly focussed on the areas of TP documentation and benchmarking.
You will join as the team leader for this team and you’ll work with the whole PwC TP network. The Operate TP team is currently based in Belfast and Cardiff and therefore your location is entirely flexible as the team can be run as a virtual model. The Operate TP team is not a ‘typical’ outsourced team in that they are fully integrated into the relevant TP engagement teams.
This is an exciting time for the Operate TP team as we are expanding the scale, scope and capabilities of the team and this role is integral to helping shape the future development. In this regard, the role is responsible for assisting the head of the UK TP network in both managing the team going forward, but also being the driving force behind the development of the team’s role and capabilities.
The Role
The transfer pricing network provides advice to clients on all aspects of the UK and international transfer pricing regime, including the determination of arm’s length comparables, policy formulation and OECD compliant TP documentation, tax audit defence and advanced pricing agreements, and reviewing the tax impact of commercial / business change in the organisation.
We are looking for a Senior Manager to join as the team leader for our Operate Transfer Pricing team to meet the continually growing demand for the team’s specialist services as a TP delivery hub. We are looking for a self-starting individual who is happy with responsibility, wants to work in a dynamic environment and has the flexibility to work on multiple engagements with different teams on a simultaneous basis.
Work within the Operate Transfer Pricing team is mainly project delivery based and will involve working with the various Transfer Pricing specialist teams across the UK network to support the analysis and delivery aspects of their engagements. The nature of the work is varied and includes involvement with all types of intercompany transactions including products, services, IP and debt. Operate is an efficient delivery hub providing delivery resource for process and execution heavy technical analysis and deliverables. This includes Benchmarking, TP Documentation, Financial modelling, Value Chain Analysis, Industry Analysis, research and much more.
You will join as the team leader and will be supported by an experienced group of partners and directors across the UK. The team services businesses from a diverse range of industries and specialisms including from FTSE100 and the largest global inbound groups to Private equity backed business and start ups.
The role will involve helping the Operate Transfer Pricing team to deliver exceptional client service, quality deliverables and insights, maximise results and drive high performance from people while fostering collaboration across teams and borders.
Responsibilities
Working with the wider Tax practice as a subject matter specialist
Involvement across analysis and delivery aspects of transfer pricing planning, documentation, defence and implementation engagements
Involvement and coordination of European and global transfer pricing engagements working with specialists across our global network
Leading the Operate Transfer Pricing team and reporting directly to Yvonne Cypher, the head of the PwC UK TP network
Expanding the scale, scope and capabilities of the Operate Transfer Pricing team
Undertaking coaching, mentoring and supervising Operate Transfer Pricing team members, assessing their performance for regular internal reviews and assisting in setting their career goals
Ensuring the timely delivery of the wide variety of work produced by the Operate Transfer Pricing team as well as managing the operational aspects
Helping to develop the best TP approaches and solutions for the clients of the UK TP network, including (but not limited to) data gathering, comparable searches, and various financial and statistical analyses.
Essential skills and experience
Strong technical capabilities and experience in Transfer Pricing to a Senior Manager level or equivalent.
Team builder with the ability to foster and build a cohesive team.
Team leader with the ability to manage, develop and enhance the team and the offering of Operate Transfer Pricing team.
Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, CAI) or Chartered Tax Advisor (ATT, CTA) or equivalent international or legal professional qualification.
A track record of delivering quality TP work for clients; demonstrating an understanding of the client’s business and relevant professional standards and maintaining respectful client relationships. An ability to promptly address problems and maintain professional standards is key.
Proactively managing a portfolio of clients and projects including all aspects of financial and risk management.
Contributing to the development of personal and team knowledge with the ability to collect and utilise current, role-relevant business and industry trend information and a track record of providing meaningful feedback to help others improve and develop.
Building business through targeting with experience in building internal and external relationships and networks.
An ability to plan and deliver work against tight deadlines.
Developed communication skills, specifically in negotiating with and influencing others.
Attention to detail / detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated and takes ownership of projects.
