We are looking for an Urgent and Emergency Care service manager to work within our Emergency Department. This exciting role requires a highly motivated individual who has the ability to problem solve complex issues whilst being a compassionate leader.

Main duties of the job

Develop the appropriate systems and processes alongside the Specialty Management Team to ensure operational effectiveness across a number of key performance indicators including access targets and finance.

Develop and review plans to achieve patient access targets at service level.

Where identified communicate and implement process changes in services to Consultants, Nursing and Administrative & Clerical Staff.

Responsible for the provision of information to support the activity planning and monitoring processes at service/Divisional level.

Undertake detailed operational monitoring, and instigate appropriate action, to ensure that the service achieves the local and national targets, linking into the Divisional team where required.

Using available tools, provide forecasts for key performance indicators, ensuring effective communication to Corporate teams and take remedial action as required.

Medicine division employs 2800 staff across both City and QMC campuses. We have a wide range of specialties from the emergency department to cardiac surgery. We also have hospital@night and hospital@day services. Within the urgent and emergency care directorate there is DREEAM which is the department of research and education for emergency, acute med and major trauma.

The Medicine Division at NUH compromises of 11 specialties including the emergency department and major trauma centre with over 2,500 staff and a budget of over £180 million. Split across two sites this large Division offers varied opportunities across with both urgent and emergency care priorities and elective care.
