Position :
Job Description : Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collect and document water samples of water from filtration plants, industrial and distribution systems locations, reservoirs, and rivers.
Perform routine physical, chemical and bacteriological analysis of samples with the appropriate documentation.
Prepare bacteriological media and chemical solutions.
Make routine bacteriological examination of samples.
Assist in the preparation of laboratory equipment and supplies for the analysis of water.
Assist in cleaning and maintaining various laboratory devices, equipment, and surroundings.
Draft correspondence and reports, and perform other clerical duties related to work activities.
Provide exceptional customer service to those contacted in the course of work.
Other related duties may also be performed; not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual holding this classification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Basic principles, practices, and techniques of organic and inorganic chemistry, and microbiology.
Laboratory equipment.
Basic laboratory protocols and safety.
Skill in:
Performing routine laboratory test.
Applying basic protocols and laboratory safety techniques.
Preparing bacteriological media and chemical solutions
Communicating clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
Ability to:
Perform routine physical, chemical and bacteriological tests.
Use laboratory equipment.
Follow oral and written instructions.
Prepare reports and may perform other assigned clerical duties.
Lift moderately heavy objects weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience:
One year of experience performing routine laboratory tests in a chemical, bacteriological or public health laboratory.
-AND-
Education:
An Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology or closely related field.
-OR-
Twenty-one units or more of major (upper division) course work in chemistry, bacteriology or biology.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Driver License:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver license at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Physical Requirements:
Making observations.
Operating assigned equipment.
Communicating with others.
Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
Moving supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
Employees must complete twelve (12) months of probation at a satisfactory performance level prior to gaining permanent status.
Salary Budget : 1,80,000 CTC Per Year +ESI+PF
