This post is a cross site post to work at both City and QMC campus. Antenatal Clinic is open between 8-6 pm Monday – Friday and the successful applicant will undertake a variety of 7.5 hour shifts between these opening times to ensure the clinic is covered.

The role of the Antenatal clinic midwife is to work as part of the Antenatal clinic team ensuring safe effective evidence based midwifery care for women and their families. You will work collaboratively with the maternity support workers, sonographers and admin staff to ensuring the smooth running of the clinic .You will need to have excellent communication skills to enable you to work effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
You will need to be a supportive team member to develop a working environment that encourages team working amongst staff and Identify and minimise interpersonal conflicts that may affect team or individual performance.
The role entails training to be competent as a vaccinator to deliver the flu and Pertussis programme in maternity.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide high quality, safe, care for all pregnant women and their families in a variety of settings.
To offer models of care personalised to individual need, promoting equality and respecting the diversity of the client groups.
To co-ordinate clinic and ensure the smooth journey for the women attending clinic.
Work as part of the multidisciplinary team, supporting the medical staff within the clinic setting.
Tracking and auctioning of blood results. .
Working as part of the team within clinic, supporting the maternity support workers, sonographers and admin staff.
Any other duty as reasonably required.
To effectively communicate complicated and sensitive information to women, their families and members of a multi-disciplinary team.
Adhere to and encourage others to utilize appropriate NMC and local standards for record keeping and all written documentation ensuring client and colleague confidentiality at all times.
Deal appropriately with positive and negative feedback from women, recognising the wider implications for the team. Ensure changes are implemented based on feedback and learning lessons.
Work as a team member to develop a working environment that encourages team working amongst staff. Identify and minimise interpersonal conflicts that may affect team or individual performance.
Provide cover for colleagues as necessary, including out of hours cover on a rotational basis, ensuring appropriate liaison to maintain continuity of care.
