Assistant Accountant – Exeter – Circa: £30,000 Negotiable DOE
Trial Balance Consulting have been reengaged by one of our long standing clients, a long-standing and highly successful commercial services business. The company has seen a substantial upturn in turnover during recent years and now seeks to source an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team. This a is a permanent, full time role that will be principally based from the company’s headquarters in the Sowton area of Exeter.
Reporting to the Head of Finance and working within a small finance team, this is a broad and interesting role that carefully balances technical, statutory, and reporting accounting responsibilities. The opportunity would be equally well suited to a practice based applicant seeking their first industry based role as it would an Assistant Accountant looking to take a step up to a broader role. Key responsibilities to include:
Assist in the preparation of annual accounts for multiple incorporated companies to include the postal journals, accruals, and prepayments
Play a key role in preparing quarterly management accountants
Month end reconciliations
Assist HoF in preparing cashflow forecasts
Preparing variance reports
Preparing and submission of VAT returns for multiple entities
Supervise the accounts payable function
Submission of Companies House obligations
For this role we seek an experienced Accounting Technician, Semi Senior, or Assistant Accountant with at least 18 months of recently gained experience. Applicants may be fully AAT, part/fully professionally qualified (ACA/ACCCA/CIMA), or possess suitable vocational skills. The companies promote modern technology throughout the function and applicants should possess solid MS Excel exposure and ideally, though not essentially Sage based experience. The role works as part of an experienced, energetic and very friendly team so good communication and team-spirited skills essential.
