The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an Associate Manager for Quality Engineering (QE) to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will manage your project deliverables, engage in discussions about project strategy, develop your team, and guide quality improvement initiatives across the global QE department. You will support your team through every phase of the development cycle, from feature definition and scoping, to the development of test strategies, to release readiness and product quality assessments, to retrospectives.

What you will do:
Nurture an open working environment
Direct the testing effort for the products on internalization and localization function area
Direct daily work to associates or team leads
Report status on a regular basis
Review quality metrics
Assess risk with support from management
Collaborate with product stakeholders from Product Management, Software Development, and Customer Experience to ensure that key features and technologies are adequately covered from a testing perspective
Oversee talent management through selecting, onboarding, training, and assessing and evaluating software quality engineers
Prepare development plans with associates; help them seek guidance and mentors
Participate in continuous improvement; conduct retrospectives within domain and guide process improvement initiatives across the department with support from other QE or developer teams
Ensure that the team is aligned to the global strategic initiatives
Guide and lead the product and project related technical research
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent in computer science or a related field
5+ years of professional experience in QE or testing
2+ years of engineering leadership experience
Excellent working knowledge of QE concepts and methodology
Project management experience with managing small-scale projects
Solid experience with at least one software development methodology
Knowledge of the UNIX or Linux operating systems
Programming language skills in Bash, shell, or Python
Solid innovation skills and a passion for technology
Proven ability to learn and apply new skills and processes rapidly
Solid interpersonal skills; ability to develop and motivate team members
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
The following will be a plus:
Knowledge of software internalization and localization
ISTQB Foundation or QAI Certified Software Tester (CSTE)
Experience with open source projects
