Job Title: Automation Engineer

Job Reports to: Team Lead, Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer

Job Summary
The Automation Engineer role is responsible for understanding the configuration and deployment of virtualized cloud technologies. Works with other business units to recommend and implement technical solutions that meet established objectives. Assists in providing online and desktop support for students and Customer Success Digital Transformation team members. Collaborates across teams to ensure communication and project plans are developed and executed in a professional manner. Identifies and streamlines both people and technological workflows and processes within and across teams.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
Provide automated solutions for current workflows to improve efficiency and replace current manual processes.
Provide high level support; resolve problems and answer questions related to operations and contact vendor support, when necessary, to resolve problems and/or outages.
Use automation tools to deploy Windows and Linux virtual machines and in cloud environments.
Use automation tools to deploy OS and application-level configurations and updates.
Design, build, optimize, document improvements to current processes.
Ensure compliance with defined SLAs, licensing and development, maintenance and testing of disaster recovery and security plans for relevant systems.
Function as part of team to provide a high level of service.
Maintain effective change management policies and practices.
Minimum Requirements
B.S. Degree in CIT, CS, or other related fields; or 4 years equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years’ experience with cloud technologies.
Minimum 3 years’ experience with system automation.
Minimum 3 years’ experience with REST based APIs and other current web-based technologies.
Experience with Ansible or other automation tools.
Knowledge and experience working with VoIP telephony systems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, be proactive and resourceful.
Ability to provide clear documentation of processes and technologies.
Creative and critical thinking skills.
Flexible and adaptable.
Work Context
Communicates regularly with colleagues and management
Uses computer frequently
Works some nights and weekends
Moves objects weighing 50 lbs.
Travels 20-30% to Genesys locations, including international locations
