Job Description : An opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist on a Permanent basis part time. Please note the salary for this post will be pro rata.
The post holder will work between the Psychological Therapies Team (PTT) and the Assessment Plus primary care service (managed by psychology). The core focus of the role will be upon the psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients referred from primary care clinicians including Mental Health Liaison Nurses, GP’s and from wider CMHT colleagues, referred as outpatients. The post holder will be required to carry out remote (video/telephone) and face to face clinics with patients at Tier 3 and Tier 2. An element of home working (carrying out remote clinics at home) will be likely. This post may also involve consultation and training with other health/mental health professionals and supervising other staff or trainees.
Ideally the post-holder will be able to draw upon additional training achieved post-qualification relevant to the service, to a level of a working knowledge as a minimum. This may well be one or more of the following: BFT, CBT for Psychosis, around complex trauma and issues of personality – CFT, DBT, CAT, Schema etc.
As a senior clinician, the post-holder may be required to undertake a role deputising for the Co-ordinator, at weekly referral allocation and MDT meetings with the CMHT, team meetings, representing the East Kilbride service at meetings within NHS Lanarkshire, with local referrers and to take on the management responsibilities of the service during the Co-ordinators absence during sickness, leave etc.
There will be a requirement to become involved in activities across the wider work of the Psychological Therapies Teams operating within NHS Lanarkshire where necessary, e.g. staff training.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
Have a Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and be a Registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council in the UK.
Complete further courses of additional learning as relevant to the clinical skills required for the post and identified as significant in the Personal Development Plan, and have accredited training in the supervision of Post Graduate clinical trainees.
Have knowledge of NHSL Health Board’s Policies and Procedures, and national and professional guidelines for optimal standards of clinical care e.g. child protection guidelines.
Have knowledge of psychiatry and other related professions in order to understand complex clinical presentations.
Valid driving licence.
