Clinical Practice Support Worker – Band 3 – Fixed Term until March 2023
We are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and motivated Clinical Practice Support Workers. In this role the successful candidates will support and develop our Healthcare Assistants (HCA) who are new to care or new to the post here at the RUH. This is a fixed term role and is pivotal to supporting our HCA Clinical Practice Educator team.
As an accomplished Healthcare Support Worker, you will know that working in a hospital environment can be daunting for new starters to joining our nursing teams. In particular individuals who are new to care and it being their first experience of employment. It’s therefore important that we give these individuals a full welcoming introduction and comprehensive training programme to ensure they are successful in their new role.
Therefore, we are looking to hire three individuals who are passionate about clinical practice, education and training, who can support our newly appointed healthcare assistants with obtaining their clinical skills, help them grow in confidence and prepare them for their crucial role. Whilst undertaking your clinical practice, you will support our HCAs by teaching, supervising and assessing their skills, whilst also encouraging, praising and recognising talent to help us continue to develop our own nursing workforce for the future.
You will work as part of a team of Clinical Practice Educators to support Healthcare Assistants across our divisions – medicine, surgery and families specialist services. You’ll work to promote a learning environment that ensures evidence-based practice and optimal service delivery, while undertaking clinical practice, working alongside staff providing supervision, teaching and assessment of competence.
What we’re looking for
Individuals who have acute experience as a band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant is essential. Alongside this you must be someone who has a passion for developing our HCAs, you will have NVQ 3 in Health and Social care or equivalent. You must have previous experience of working in an acute inpatient setting. You should have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to build and maintain good relationships with multi professionals.
What we can offer you:
You will be fully supported in this role by our two band 6 Clinical Practice Facilitators. We will develop you in your role and you’ll be supported to undertake the Care Certificate Assessor Training which will enable you to go onto our wards and work alongside, support and assess our HCAs during their supernumerary period when working towards the Care Certificate.
You will enjoy a varied role as you will have a mix of teaching and supporting on the wards as well as the opportunity to further develop our training programme with us. You will become a role model for our new HCAs and be there to provide mentorship and improve their presenting skills.
