To support this, you will be able to work with some of the newest Microsoft, cloud, and open-source data technologies.What you’ll doAt a glance you will:Continue to iterate on the design and implementation of our data architecture to support the analytics needs of the business now and in the future.Support planning and implementation of the organisations data strategy.Create and maintain efficient data pipelines and ELT processes to centralise data across the whole business.Lead on development of our enterprise dimensional model, using dbt and Spark SQL to perform most data transformation, and PySpark for more complex transformations.Ensure that our new data architecture is well documented for technical and non-technical audiences with entity relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, data lineage graphsApply software development best practices such as git, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and test-driven development when developing new data processes.What you’ll needAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAs you’ll be using data to help solve real business problems, you will have excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Driven by business outcomesOur ambition is to drive real improvements for our communities through data. To make sure we maintain a focus on delivering value you will be motivated to produce improvements to business outcomes, not just by producing reports.Knowledge of data engineering best practiceTo make sure we are doing things in the right way, you will have knowledge of good practice relating to data engineering.Experience with data toolsSo that you can hit the ground running, you will need to have experience with the tools we use or similar ones such as Fivetran, Databricks, dbt, Airflow (Astronomer), Power BIA motivational approachCollaboration is highly important; you’ll need to demonstrate your experience of managing a team.Strong communication skillsCollaboration with team members and stakeholders is crucial. So, you will need to be a confident communicator both verbally and in writing.An Agile approachWorking at pace and adapting to change is key to the role, so you’ll need to be used to working in an agile way, applying DevOps principles to planning and prioritising work.Other desirable skillsThere are a few more skills that would be good to have, but these are not essential. They should give you more of an idea about the direction we are heading and the technologies we use.
