Job Description
At Toll Technology Centre, Pune (India) we are looking for Data Scientist.
This role sits within the Digital COE and reports to the Program Manager. The purpose of this role is to identify, prioritise and undertake a range of research, analytical activities and modelling to solve complex business problems and create value for the business.
As a Data Scientist , you will be:
Conducting, proactively and on request, detailed data analysis and mining uncovering actionable insights that can be used to support Toll Group decision making to drive value. Developing and maintaining complex algorithms and statistical models in support of business analysis activities. Contributing to BI and Analytics CoE project outcomes. Contributing to the measurement and analysis of activities to help optimise business performance.
Maintain awareness of and recommend of new and emerging analytical tools, processes, services and other big data capabilities to exploit potential opportunities. Advise and consult with business stakeholders globally to support operational activities by providing data driven insights, visualisations and presentations. Promote the use of data driven insights to the organisation via education materials and presentations.
Set and maintain appropriate data mining methods and standards. Understand Toll’s data model to ensure accuracy and integrity of insights. Work proactively and collaboratively within the Toll team to drive a better customer experience. Identify structured and unstructured data sets both internally and externally for application within the Toll group and help ensure data quality on an ongoing basis
Evaluate, monitor and improve effectiveness of datasets, tools and services available to the BI & Analytics CoE
On an ongoing basis enrich the Toll data pool with new and emerging data sets
Must comply to security and risk protocols as directed by Toll IT policy and procedures, and provide support services in line with Service Level Agreements.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
At least 7 years’ experience in a data science environment (experience may be corporate, research/government or academics) within BI and Analytics and delivering insights in a global environment (preferably logistics). Ability to manipulate and analyse complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data and metadata from varying sources
Experience identifying, merging and manipulating internal and external datasets. Demonstrable experience with the development of value adding analytical / statisti models to drive insight and empower decision making
Strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data. Expert knowledge of analysis tools and big data technologies (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.). Familiarity with relational/non-relational data manipulation, machine learning, and scientific statistical analysis.
Intermediate understanding of databases such as SQL Server, Oracle and SAP. A strong understanding of use of the Azure stack and Python for Data Science. Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner. Flexible analytical approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision.
Solid understanding and experience with programming logic and various paradigms. Experience working with relational databases such as SQL, Teradata, Oracle etc
Experience working in agile environment. Experience working with both on premise and cloud based platforms.
