We are looking for a Java Engineer to work in an agile and fast-paced environment interfacing with management, business and senior technology members. Understand business requirements, processes and specifications required to support implementation. Has strong hands-on coding experience in Java and its ecosystem with excellent knowledge of core java, collection framework, multithreading, microservices and modern messaging & event stream systems such as Kafka. You will be responsible for designing and developing distributed messaging solutions along with mentoring and leading a team of developers.
What will your day look like
Work with operations and architecture groups developing scalable, innovative and supportable solutions
Work with the Technology Product Owner and the squad to ensure the technical design is aligned to the initiative goal and objectives.
Enables continuous delivery practices to increase delivery speed
Utilizes tools and practices to build, verify and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, enhancing tech division capabilities
Implements a culture within the Tribe and the Chapter, encouraging best practices around reviews, quality and documentation
Contributes to Engineering communities, meetups and conferences to promote technology development culture and practices
Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management
Creates estimates and continuously reviews demand within the individual Squads/teams
Take ownership of issues and provide technical leadership to the team

About You
To grow and be successful in this role you will ideally bring the following:
Essential skills
Knowledge on one of the cloud platforms like AWS or GCP
Robust knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Architecture and Design Patterns, Microservices, Distributed Messaging and Integration
Strong hands-on experience with Java, Kafka, OpenShift, Spring boot, Spring framework, Rest Services, ORM like Hibernate
Must have hands-on experience in Confluent/Apache Kafka environment (Kafka Cluster, Apache Zookeeper. Transform data into topics, streaming processors in Kafka, Confluent tools.
Experience with streaming API’s a benefit and supporting large scale API versioning with backward compatibility
Proficient skills with tools used in software development lifecycle, such as IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse, JIRA, GitHub, Gradle, Kubernetes & Docker etc.
Experience with Devops practise
Solid understanding of and experience with relational and non-relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server & MongoDB
Able to perform core development activities along with rest of the team
Relevant Experiences
7+ years of experience in end-to-end design & development lifecycle in a complex environment which will require integration with several systems
At least 4+ years’ experience at technical lead level leading a team of multi-skilled developers.
Experienced in one or more roles previously eg: Solution Designer, Lead Engineer, Lead Java developer, Technical Lead etc.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or engineering (or equivalent professional experience).
Soft Skills
Proven problem-solving ability and the ability to work individually as well as within a team environment
Excellent problem analysis skills. Use considerable technical expertise and judgement to develop options and recommend solutions
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to efficiently lead a team and mentor junior developers.
Strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration to deliver business value
Pays attention to the detail and demonstrates problem solving capability to develop and deliver quality solutions
Understanding of current state landscape and relevant technologies
Desired Skills
Knowledge of automated testing techniques using Jest, Selenium,WebDriverIO,Cucumber Framework
Knowledge about Single Page application, ReactJs, Redux and NodeJs
Financial Services and /or Banking experience is preferred
