Job description
Recruiting for a Enhanced Support Worker to join our service in Hounslow!
GBP 23,200 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, Staff discounts, healthcare and more. Permanent and Temporary roles available.

Job Overview:
We are recruiting for Enhanced Support Workers to join our dynamic service and team. You will be able to be creatively engage young people in order to minimise risks and increase their independence. Partnership working is the heart of supporting our young people and Enhanced Support Workers are required to build and maintain those relationships to coordinator the young person’s support.
This role requires working on a rota pattern encompassing mix of shifts between 7:45am and 10pm including weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for key-working a caseload assigned by the ManagementUndertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions to professional standardsCo-develop a positive behaviour support plan with the individual that identifies triggers and actions required to enable positive risk taking through reduced risksSupport customers to engage with agreed support programmeSupport customers to claim and receive eligible benefits, deal with relevant agencies to develop life skills, budgeting, financial literacy, and managing finances effectivelyEncourage tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectivelyMotivate individuals to prepare and cook healthy meals safely, going shopping and offering guidance on buying balanced nutritious foodEnable customers to improve their skills to manage their day-to-day activities such a making telephone calls, dealing with correspondence, attending appointments and form fillingSupport customers to access other services including CMHT, substance misuse agencies and/or work in partnership with other agencies as part of the support planning processDevelop and maintain links with key agencies and service providers in the local communityLead on an area of specialism (e.g. ETE, health and wellbeing) and build partnerships and develop internal and external opportunities for service-users in this areaSupport customers to maintain activities including but not limited to education, employment, training, informal accreditation and volunteering opportunitiesPromote customers to develop social skills, positive and healthy relationships and keep safe in a variety of settingsEngage customers to place their voice, aspirations, and interests at the heart of service delivery Promoting inclusion, equality, diversity, and community cohesionPositively support customers to understand their child’s development in line with best practice guidanceAdvice customers to move on to housing opportunities, offering assistance in finding accommodation and offer support to ensure they are bidding regularly once approved for move onEnsure that referrals are chased proactively to fill vacant properties efficientlyAdhere to Look Ahead’s Policies and ProceduresUndertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned

Successful candidates will have:
An understanding of the issues facing young peopleAn awareness and understanding of the social, emotional and wellbeing needs and mental health in relation to young peopleAn awareness of adolescent development and relevant theories, such as attachment theoryAn awareness and understanding of child development and best practice in promoting healthy living and positive parenting skillsAn understanding of the challenges young parents face and the skills to enable them to pursue their aspirations while parenting effectivelyAn understanding of the difficulties care leavers face and the skills to empower them to achieve their ambitionsAn understanding of the difficulties NEET young people face and the skills to enable them to develop a sense of responsibility and independence in the communityAn understanding of the challenges young offenders face and the skills to facilitate positive behaviour change and reintegration in the communityAn understanding of the roles of different agencies involved in the care and support of young people with complex needs and chaotic lifestyles e.g. Children’s Social Care, CAMHS, etc.An understanding of safeguarding policies and proceduresAn understanding of the limits to own knowledge and responsibilities, with a clear understanding of when to ask for the advice and support of colleagues, line manager or relevant statutory or voluntary agencies

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:
Up to NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent or experience in the social care/charity sectorAbility to adapt to challenging environmentsExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenAbility to plan, manage and evaluate outcome focused activities and support programmesInterpersonal skills to build relationships with young people in 1:1 and group settingsStrong personal resilience and excellent teamwork skills

Desirable:
Understanding of the Service legal framework including the Children Act and Homelessness legislation and how to use it effectively
