About Us
Oakham Veterinary Hospital is a long-established practice on the outskirts of Oakham, Rutland. Our premises are purpose-built and set in 8.5 acres surrounded by rural countryside, with easy access to main transport links.
We are very proud to have accredited hospital status by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and offer a complete veterinary service from routine vaccinations to specialist surgery and diagnostic imaging. We also have a clinical association with The University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science giving us access to leading specialists at the vet school on a daily basis. The association has also substantially increased our already ‘state of the art’ equipment range.
The practice treats a wide range of patients from leisure horses to racehorses and sport horses. The practice is well known for treating both national and international event horses that are competing at 5* and global championship level.
Oakham is a busy stud practice dealing with chilled and frozen AI, stallion collections and foaling approximately 30 mares per year on-site.
The hospital team is led by our 4 Clinical Directors who are supported by a team of 4 Assistant Vets, 3 Interns, and 10 Nurses. In addition, we also have a clinical association with The University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science meaning we have Vets permanently based with us that provide veterinary care in both medicine and surgery.
The clinical staff are supported by a team of 6 office staff, a lab technician, HR manager, and the equine practice manager.
