Job Description : Java Developer, UX, IntelliJ, Spring, TDD, SwingOxford (fully remote)£45-60k + share optionsOur client is one of the UK’s great tech success stories. Founded in 2016, a year later raising a $22 million Series A, the largest AI round in Europe that year, they recently announced a further successful funding round.They are currently looking for skilled Java Developers with UX experience to work as part of a team with experts in AI, static and dynamic program analysis, and software verification. You will have a significant impact on this astonishing company’s product user experience – as well as learning new AI and program synthesis techniques.The ideal candidate will understand the technology and principles that underpin modern Java tools – both IDEs and on the command line – with a passion for delivering rich user experiences to customers in an agile environment. You will be expected to readily empathise with customers doing Java development and the approaches that can make them highly productive. You will also have a passion for testing and best-practice software delivery.The Java Engineer will have: Studied a computer science related subject at an undergraduate degree level or higherExperience with IntelliJFluency in the Java language and runtime library, particularly Swing or some other Java UI frameworkProven Java Development experience in a commercial and/or open-source environmentProven UX experience – you have designed and iterated upon a significant GUI-based application that has delighted customersKnowledge of Git or other SCMsKnowledge of test-driven development and a CI/CD setupExperience with one or more of Linux/Mac OS/Windows environmentsOptional but highly desirable skills: Experience with Web UI and JavaScriptFluency in the Spring Framework and the core concepts of Spring testing.Exposure to IntelliJ plugin development is highly desirableFluency with UX mockup tools and design thinking techniquesA flavour of the challenge: Design and build complex interactive Java software (including an IntelliJ Plugin) in an Agile environment, using industry best practicesDrive user experience discussions and analysis around tooling – both interactive and on the command lineDelighting customers and delivering clean, responsive, intelligent user experiences is essential to achieving thisParticipate in code reviews, pull-request development, pair programming and test developmentPro-actively contribute to the team’s objectives of delivering incremental value every sprint and partner with other team members to deliver those objectivesInteract with business stakeholders, customers and management to understand and refine user stories and the product backlogHave a passion for innovation and improvement whilst recognizing that customer outcomes are always kingYou’ll get to work in one of the hottest tech start-ups in the world of ‘AI for code’, applying state-of-the-art program analysis and synthesis technology to tough problems faced by development teams at the world’s leading companies.Competitive package, including share optionsPrivate health and dental plans8% non-contributory pensionLife insurance & Income Protection schemes25 days annual leave + Bank holidaysEnhanced family friendly benefitsFlexible workingWorking from homeJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: £45,000.00-£60,000.00 per yearSchedule:Monday to Friday
