The Purpose of This Role

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to build and modernize our Customer Relationship under the Unified Customer Profile (UCP) platform. In this role, you will build and modernize/maintain the API layer used to communicate with our varied data sources. You will also apply a variety of cloud-native (AWS and Snowflake) technologies to develop pipelines to inject and publish data from and to other teams. This position is a critical element to delivering Fidelity’s promise of creating the best customer experiences in financial services.
The Value You Deliver
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) with 6+ years’ experience in the IT industry
Proven track record as a Technical Lead, crafting new solutions and re-platforming legacy applications
Desire and ability to learn and implement new technologies
Keen ability to see complex challenges from multiple perspectives, and leaning in to solve independently or with others
Proven experience architecting and writing microservices with Java
Knowledge of how to develop highly scalable distributed systems using Open-Source technologies
Experience in managing high volume customer-facing application traffic for API’s
Ability to validate, monitor, and solve issues during development, testing, or in production
Ability to work effectively in global teams distributed across geographic locations in an Agile way
Excellent communication skills, both through written and verbal channels
Excellent facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills
The Skills that are Key to this role
Technical / Behavioral
You need to be Highly conversant in Java, API development, Spring Boot, Streaming technologies like Kafka, Cloud technologies like AWS.
Knowledge of Oracle skill sets, like SQL, PLSQL & Unix will be an added advantage.
Experience with DevOps or CI/CD Pipelines using Maven, Jenkins, uDeploy, Stash etc.
Hands-on experience building highly resilient &scalable customer facing solutions on AWS.
Knowledge of NoSQL databases (like Cassandra/Mongo DB) though not required for now, will be a nice to have skillset for you.
Knowledge of financial markets will be desirable.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to recognize the urgency of issues and take appropriate steps to mitigate risks.

You will be joining the Customer Interactions’ Platform team with the vision to create the frameworks and pipelines necessary to accelerate Customer Relationship squad’s, cloud adoption and to optimize core capabilities that will enable scalability, efficiency, and speed-to-market for adding new features to the platform. UCP is a critical platform to Fidelity and the impacts delivered via the work that the Platform team does will significantly enable our business partners across the firm to deliver on Fidelity’s promise of creating the best customer experiences in financial services.

Personal Investing (PI) is the retail investing arm of Fidelity that serves the financial needs of millions of individual investors with a comprehensive range of investment products and services. The primary objective of the team in India is to enable the PI businesses, working with our IT business partners in the US.
