Job Description : Library EducatorHasiru Dala is a social impact organization that focuses on justice for waste pickers through interventions co-created with the waste pickers, in the areas of identity rights, access to family education, healthcare, housing, skill development, market and employment access, and multi-tier policy advocacy.Hasiru Dala is looking for a Library Educator to work with Buguri Children’s Library in Chikballapur and Gauribidanur . We are looking for someone who is sensitive, self-driven, passionate about working with children in community spaces and believes in the power of transforming lives through stories and art.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Facilitating library sessions with children in community spaces.Having basic knowledge of children social security. Cataloguing and managing book collection at the library. Working with the team to design library programs including curriculum framing and execution. Oversee coordination with volunteers and like-minded organizations for enriching the children’s program. Actively support events for children in the library premise. Support to conduct awareness programs and workshops with children and parents. Take primary charge of book, stock keeping and all basic administrative responsibilities at the library. Support in preparing monthly and quarterly reports and documentation of the process. Attend regular meetings and training conducted for the team. The role will require frequent travel with the city.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Should be able to work independently, drive programs and have strong ethical values of working withchildren. Understand the problems of children coming from trauma or at-risk environments. Understand principles of positive discipline while working with at-risk children and interact in a supportivemanner with persons of all backgrounds. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Should have keen interest in literature and applied arts and understand the role of informal education. People with reliable transportation are preferred.EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE Bachelors in any field Keen interest in working with children and/or communities. Languages: English and Kannada.
