An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon to join the internationally renowned Nottingham Breast Team for 6 months.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a team of five colleagues to provide breast services for Nottinghamshire. This post will complement the experienced team of oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeons and will include servicing of new referral diagnostic and specialist clinics.
The Nottingham breast team has an international reputation for service innovation, training and research. The appointee will be expected to contribute to these activities and support both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
The clinical department has purpose-built facilities for out-patient activity on the City Campus. In addition, breast screening is carried out at Ropewalk house and on mobile screening vans. Inpatient beds are available at the City Campus.
There is a 1:8 on-call commitment for breast patients.

Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with a responsibility in Breast Services for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The main focus of this Consultant post at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is to maintain the Consultant surgeon membership of the specialist multidisciplinary breast team, which is located at the City Hospital Campus. The post holder will have received training and be able to deliver a clinical service in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Breast Services activities are concentrated in two main areas: the symptomatic service for GP referred patients and the NHS Breast Screening Programme. The breast surgery service within Breast Services provides standard diagnostic and therapeutic surgery, as well as a comprehensive reconstructive surgery service (working closely with the Plastic Surgeons). The Breast Service is multidisciplinary and includes, under a single management team, surgeons, radiologists, specialist nurses (breast care nurses and nurse practitioners), diagnostic radiographers and administrative/clerical staff
its 10 PAs Plan.
8.5 PAs of DCC, including theatres, ward rounds, clinic, on call provision, patient administration, clinical diagnostic work and MDTs.
1.5 PAs of SPA, including job planning, service management, appraisal, audit, governance, teaching, network meetings

The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.
Consent:
Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service – I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
