LYMPHOEDEMA SENIOR HEALTH CARE SUPPORT WORKER

Band 3: PART TIME (22.5 HOURS)
An exciting opportunity has become available for a senior health care support worker post based in Barnsley General Community Services within South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust.
The purpose of this role is to support our specialist clinical team to provide a newly commissioned service to support patients primarily in a clinic setting but also in the patient’s own home where clinically appropriate / necessary. This will be hosted within our award winning Community Tissue Viability Service. The initial rollout of the service will accept adults with a confirmed diagnosis of the following:
Lymphoedema secondary to cancer and cancer treatments
Palliative patients with a life limiting progressive disease
Primary Lymphoedema (confirmed congenital/hereditary diagnosis).
The post holder will assist in the undertaking and observation of a range of treatments delivered by our nurse/therapy specialists, including intensive decongestive treatment and manual lymphatic drainage.
We are looking for individuals who are confident, highly motivated and flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You should be an experienced practitioner, with the ability to provide clinical care and support to the highest standard.
This role requires the post holder to undertake physically demanding work on a daily basis and involves frequent kneeling and crouching along with lifting and securing of limbs to assist in the application of lymphoedema garments; therefore a level of physical fitness is required in order to sustain this type of clinical intervention.
The ability to work flexibly and to travel around the Barnsley area on a daily basis is also essential.
