Job Description : The Royal School is a co-educational day and boarding independent school from nursery to sixth form. The Prep School is located at Hindhead and the Senior School on a beautiful 25 acre site in Haslemere, in an area renowned for its natural beauty. The school is academically ambitious for all its pupils. As a proudly mixed ability school, the focus is on the whole child, seeking to develop their talents and sparking their intellectual curiosity. Each pupil is nurtured and challenged to be the very best they can be. Our commitment is to ensure pupils are future-ready to thrive in this rapidly changing world.

The school joined United Learning in November 2019 and there are plenty of opportunities to grow, share ideas, best practice and knowledge across our supportive network of 7,000 colleagues across the country. The Royal is a friendly place to work and staff benefit from shared curriculum resources, in-house training opportunities and bespoke personal development and career pathways.

Pippa Smithson joined as Head in 2020 and our Senior Leadership Team is driven by a strong vision. Our philosophy of continuous improvement has led to the school enjoying a rapid period of growth, investment and development, including a new Creativity & Innovation Hub and digital roll-out of Surface Go devices to all Year 7-11 pupils.
Due to a growth in the numbers of children joining The Royal, we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher to join our lovely Prep School. With no more than 18 in any one class, you will benefit from being able to really get to know the children in your class and deliver the very best education. We are open to hearing from both recently qualified and experienced teachers. As a Class Teacher, you will be required to teach most subjects across the curriculum; having a special interest in Sport and/or Art would be advantageous, but not essential.

Renowned for striking the perfect balance between excellent pastoral care and ambitious academic achievement, we are committed to bringing the best out in every child. The Prep School delivers an education that is stimulating, challenging and purposeful, designed to prepare our children to be successful, considerate citizens of the future.

We may hold interviews as and when applications are received, and this job may be withdrawn without notice. Applications will only be considered if submitted online and before the closing deadline. With this in mind, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible on the link provided.
The Royal School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work at the School to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to child protection screening appropriate to the post including an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and checks with previous employers.
United Learning

The Royal School is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing called ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.
