NHS Ayrshire & Arran Psychological Services comprises of approximately 100 staff including Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists,Clinical Nurse Specialists in CBT, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, Counsellors, Graduate Assistant Psychologists and Master and Doctoral Psychology Trainees. The Psychological Service delivers area-wide psychological provision through the Professional Lead for Psychological Services, two Heads of Specialty and Consultant Psychology Leads across the Psychological Specialties. The service places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD, provides opportunities for further training and has a number of internal special interest and current working groups. The service has close links with the University of Glasgow Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Programme, the University of Edinburgh MSc in Applied Psychology (Healthcare) for Children and Young People Programme, and the University of Stirling/Dundee MSc Psychological Therapy in Primary Care Programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) to join our Community Paediatric Service based at Rainbow House, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine. The post holder will be part of our committed team, working closely with a range of medical and allied healthcare professionals within the specialist service. This service is well-established and highly valued by colleagues across a range of services. We are a distinct Community Paediatric Psychology Service but work closely alongside our colleagues in Medical Paediatrics and CAMHS.
The role will include psychological assessment, short to medium term therapeutic interventions, involvement in innovative service delivery and developing psychologically informed working practice with a range of colleagues. There is also the opportunity to contribute to service evaluation audit, research and training within the service.
In order to support clinicians in the delivery of their role, Psychological Services places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest/professional Groups. The service has close links with the University of Glasgow, Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Programme, the University of Edinburgh MSc in Applied Psychology (Healthcare) for Children and Young People. Programme, and the University of Stirling/Dundee, MSc Psychological Therapy in Primary Care Programme.
Applicants must have successfully attained the MSc in Applied Psychology (Healthcare) for Children and Young People.
Variation in these contracted hours will be considered with a minimum 0.6 WTE up to 1.0 WTE
