THE ROLE
The Registered Health Professional will conduct psychological assessments to help patients learn and understand their mental health symptoms and identify treatment needs. Many patients choose to access virtual treatment with PORTS, the Registered Health Professional will deliver treatments that are based on the well-tested clinical principle of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) using online and telephone methods.
About Us – PORTS
Practitioner Online Referral Treatment Service (PORTS) is a digital mental health service that is funded and operating under the Western Australia Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA). PORTS offers free access to high-quality mental health assessment and treatment to people across Western Australia through referrals from their GPs and Health Professionals.
Our therapists conduct psychological assessments to help patients understand their symptoms and treatment needs. Therapists also deliver effective intervention through our structured CBT treatment courses and Telephone Support programs. These interventions have been developed and refined through extensive research and analysis.
Our Clinic is located in Perth and operates Monday- Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm AWST (except Public Holidays) with therapists available for contact during these hours. Once enrolled in treatment, patients can access course materials 24/7 at their convenience.

Key Accountabilities (but not limited to)
Provide a range of high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered online clinical services to patients, including conducting mental health assessments.
Participate in the development, review and implementation of new and existing assessment and treatment courses.
Provide consultation and support to team members and perform work in such a way as to facilitate positive working relationships and promote an ethos of collaboration in clinical practice.
Liaise and coordinate with other healthcare providers in relation to the provision of clinical care.
Participate in periodic clinical reviews on service delivery, patient safety and quality outcomes.
Accurately record patient data and reports into the electronic medical records system or other records management systems as required by MQ Health and participate in the review and improvement of these systems.
Appropriately escalate identified clinical, IT and/or operational issues or risks to ensure safe and effective service delivery and a culture of continuous improvement.
Promptly advise referring medical practitioners of any patient findings that require immediate clinical attention.
Comply with and participate in PORTS Work Health and Safety, quality assurance and risk management projects, policies, and protocols.
Prepare patient reports for referring clinicians and other clinicians/bodies as relevant.
Preserve confidentiality and privacy of patient information and records.
Undertake an annual performance review with a designated Clinic Manager or appropriate line manager.
Comply with all PORTS policies, procedures, and by-laws.
Conduct other duties as directed by the Clinic Manager or Clinic Director.
How to Apply

Tertiary qualification in psychology, occupational therapy, nursing social work or a related field and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or relevant registration body.
Demonstrated experience in the provision of mental health services across a range of contexts and populations.
Experience in the delivery of CBT models, risk assessments and interventions.
Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build rapport and empathise with patients.
Knowledge of, and commitment to, evidence-based and patient-centered clinical practice.
Commitment to mentorship of students and staff.
Ability to prioritise and manage workloads within established routines, methods and procedures.
Commitment to uphold and be a steward of the Mission, Vision and Values of MQ Health.
Demonstrated computer literacy skills in the Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
