As a Senior Director of Solutions Engineering, for South Europe, Middles East and Africa (SEMEA) Reporting directly to the VP, Solution Engineering, EMEA, you will support and grow up a team of talented technologists Solution Engineers and Managers to contribute to the business success of the region.
You will be part of the SEMEA leadership team to evolve the role of presales and accelerate VMware global transformation to a Multi Cloud and App market leader and Subscription company.
In this role you will have the opportunity to engage with our most strategic customers in the region at Executive level to foster our business partnership and ensure our solutions are adopted to obtain their business outcomes.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Partnering with key stakeholders in sales, business units, supporting functions and corporate teams, you will be inspiring balanced change through a series of programs and projects.
The nature of the presales organization is to be the technology trusted advisor and proactively engage our customers and partners to identify or inspire initiatives that generate demand across our entire portfolio and ensuring an accelerated path to adoption.
A big focus of the role is on team development, including approval of training plans, career development planning, conducting annual performance reviews, and coaching/counselling of managers and team members for their professional growth.
Personally, the Senior Director is expected to take a customer-centric approach to shaping and articulating VMware’s technology and strategy, as well as supporting VMware’s ongoing field transformation from transactions-based selling of Cloud technologies and solutions to relationship-based selling of Multi-Cloud, Application Modernization, Security, Digital Workplace and IT-as-a-Service solutions.
You will be the senior technology go to person for the Southern EMEA region to drive digital transformation for customers and partners, while continually staying on top of industry trends and working with Product Engineering to devise enhancements to VMware solutions based on customer and partner demand.

What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?Leverage your experience of inspiring a large presales organization across the Southern EMEA geography (Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa)to recruit and retain the most capable and diverse solution engineering team to support VMware’s growth; the intent is to produce the next generation of leadership for VMware, to create and drive innovative programs focused on achieving growth.To Drive the Solution Engineering organization on all technical sales activities and manage customer relationships and operationsEngage with VMware’s customers, and partners to explain our technology vision in a manner that helps build commitment to this vision and drive adoption of our technology solutionsBuild C-level relationships with VMware’s customer and partners that result in deeper loyalty to VMware and broader adoption of VMware’s solutionsExpand VMware’s influence with key industry firms by helping to develop, articulate, and refine our overall strategy, technology vision, and case examples of customer impactParticipate in regular territory and forecast reviews with the regional sales directors resulting in a detailed understanding of the top opportunities in each regionReview of resource utilisation, planning for specialised coverage of all major sales activity areas and review of the resource matching process.Communicate to our partners and customers through a range of vehicles, including VMware-sponsored events and press engagements, sales meetings, and social media
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
In this role you would be part of the EMEA SE Leadership team, currently led by Enrico Boverino together with the Sr Directors SE for CEMEA and NEMEA region and representatives of VMware Business Units Presales as well as the SEMEA Leadership team, currently led by RVP Henri van der Vaeren, including Country Directors for the region, HR, Marketing, Legal and Professional Services function.
