Job Description : Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people’s and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk.
At any one time, around 23,000 people in Norfolk and Suffolk are receiving care and attention from the Trust. On Monday 31st January 2022, the Government announced that it is reconsidering the legislation requiring vaccination to be a condition of deployment. Any decision to no longer make the COVID-19 vaccination a legal requirement for certain NHS staff, is subject to parliamentary process. This means, there will now be a period of further consultation following which MPs will vote on whether to reverse the current legislation.
This potential change to government policy means that the Trust has paused activity relating to this and will not be asking you to provide evidence of a vaccination at this time. If you are successfully appointed into a post we will keep you updated with how any changes in law will affect you.
Job overview
Are you a mental health practitioner with an interest in working with armed forces veterans? Do you yourself have experience of working either within or alongside the armed forces? We are looking for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to work within the newly-developed Veterans High Intensity Service.
We are looking for a practitioner who can show a commitment to the particular needs of this client group and an understanding of the key issues, including psychological trauma, that are often experienced by veterans.
In return, we can offer the opportunity to be part of a new and exciting service, specialist supervision, and close links to existing national NHS services for Veterans.
NSFT has been commissioned to provide this service across the East of England. Whilst this service will fully use the capabilities of remote working, travel across Norfolk and Suffolk and the rest of the East of England (Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire) will be essential on some occasions.
The roles will be full-time and for a fixed-term period of 12 months and are part of the wider NSFT Staff Support Service.
Main duties of the job
This new service is to offer a high intensity service to service users who are armed forces veterans, working in partnership with our colleagues in local statutory mental health services and numerous partner agencies that are specific to the needs of veterans. We welcome applications from allied any health professionals as well as nurses.

Professional registration: Nursing, Dip OT, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or equivalent
Experience

Demonstrable experience of working with mental health service users with some degree of complexity and risk.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.
This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
