Job Description : About The Role
We are recruiting for a Senior PHP Developer to join our expanding IT department.

Our Senior PHP developers contribute to improvements, new features and maintenance of our Symfony 4/5 based web applications. Working as a member of our agile development team, new features are written using Object Oriented (OO) PHP, MySQL, HTML5 and JavaScript in an environment that encourages learning and the advancement of your technical skills as a developer.

You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor and develop Graduate, Junior and Intermediate level Developers in your team to further enhance their skills and knowledge.

As a Senior PHP Developer you have the opportunity to be based remotely or work from our state-of-the-art Head Offices in Barton Upon Humber.

Main responsibilities:
Build and maintain Wren’s custom built, cutting edge applications (Symfony 4/5 based)
Write clean code that is clear and understandable by others
Contribute to project specifications and estimations
Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
Work with business stakeholders and development team to understand the initial scope for a new project
Mentor and support junior members of the team

About You
Essential skills and knowledge:

At least 2 years’ experience in creating and maintaining object oriented PHP5/7 based systems (We use PHP 7.3+ on all applications)
Experience of using the Symfony 4, Symfony 5 or equivalent framework
Experience of working with MySQL (We use v8 currently)
Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS/LESS or SASS, JavaScript and Ajax
Experience of using Version Control systems such as Git as part of a team
Beneficial skills and knowledge:

Experience in creating and maintaining RESTful APIs using JSON
Knowledge of the Doctrine (v2+) ORM
Experience of automated testing (preferably PHPUnit and Behat/Selenium)
Knowledge of design patterns and practical experience implementing them
Experience of Agile project methodologies and its impact on iterative design
Experience of working in a continuous integration environment
Familiar with Linux or Mac OS
Experience working with AWS and its features
