Software Development Technician Apprentice
Magtec is an advanced technology company that develops and manufactures complete Electric Vehicle drive systems for commercial vehicles.

Having had an apprentice in the past they are dedicated to nurturing their staff to be the best in the business and are now looking for a Software Development Apprentice to join their friendly team. You will be joining a multi-disciplinary software team responsible for the development of applications, ranging from vehicle control systems to customer telematics systems for monitoring vehicle use and performance.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Software Development Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:
Supporting the back-end database development and front-end application code for Magtec telematics systems.
Defining the architecture and software components required to build Magtec’s future information management systems.
Development and management databases and web-based applications.
Development of databases to capture data generated from automated test rigs throughout the business and automatic report generation from this data.
Development of mobile applications for service engineers to access product data and update databases in the field.
Development of product tracking and revision management applications for hardware in the field.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge
Degree in computer science or a related field, or some industry experience
Experience using .NET (C#), JavaScript and NodeJS
Some experience in the design of good looking and efficient applications and GUIs for data capture and data display
A level 4/C or equivalent in GCSE Maths and English Language is required for this role.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:
£20,000 to £25,000 per annum, depending on experience
37.5 hours per week.
08:00 to 16:00
23 days holiday plus bank holidays.
1 extra day annual leave after 1-year service.
30-minute lunch break per day.
This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in software development. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.
