Job Description : Specialist Teacher – Hearing Impairment – Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or Specialist Teacher Hearing Impairment in training.
MPS/UPS + max SEN (depending on qualifications)
We are seeking to appoint a Full Time Specialist Teacher for Hearing Impairment to lead our new Specialist Resource Provision for learners with Hearing Impairment. This will provide inclusive education for our Key Stage 3 and 4 Hearing Impaired learners who have been allocated a place by the Local Authority.
The successful candidate is required to have Qualified Teacher Status and a Mandatory Qualification in Hearing Impairment. Teachers without a MQ in HI but with experience of teaching children with hearing impairments and with competency in BSL will be considered and supported to undertake a two-year distance learning course to gain the mandatory qualification.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, exemplary classroom practice and the enthusiasm to work as part of a team multi-agency working to achieve the best outcome for children and young people with hearing impairment. You will be teaching hearing impaired learners aged 11-16 years a full curriculum. You will be supporting HI learners aged 11-16 to access the full curriculum, working collaboratively with mainstream staff to improve outcomes for HI learners.
