Job Description : Technical Lead Job SpecWe are seeking a talented Technical Lead, with a passion for all things tech to head up our development team in a small diverse company that serves a global marketplace.  The two main focuses of this role are to develop and lead our technical team, and to work alongside our leadership team to help set the overall strategic direction of the company as we branch into new markets, look to increase our revenue and to also maintain our existing infrastructure which is at the very core of our company.  Our technical team is made up of our Technical Director who you will be working very closely with, a back-end developer who has been with us for 8 years, a junior web developer who started fresh this year and a fully remote front-end designer based in Poland. We also contract out some of our projects to an external company we work with. We are looking for someone who will be able to manage all of these relationships and get the best out of each of them!About the companyLaunched in 1996, BearingNet was formed as the first online inquiry and information service designed exclusively for Bearing & Power Transmission Distributors. The basic concept was to help distributors trade hard-to-find, obsolete or surplus bearings more efficiently and effectively, ultimately by networking the bearing industry together.We provide this service via our online platforms, used by thousands of people internationally, with traffic exceeding 3 million page views a day and helping facilitate over $10 billion worth of trade annually.Via manual upload and FTP, distributors upload their inventory to our search database which now consists of 13 million parts, is then used for companies to locate who has the part they need in stock and ready to ship. Our system works particularly well for emergency supply, shortages and long lead times. The platform mostly serves European companies, but our platform is used in over 80 countries worldwide and a drive to develop into new geographical markets and increase our platform portfolio. DescriptionThis is a full-time permanent position, with flexible working hours. Partial remote work is an option, and you will be reporting to the Technical Director.Responsibilities and Duties:· Overall technological direction, including choice of technologies, responsibility for the codebase and implementation of new features· Continuing our overhaul of the existing codebase, to bring it in line with modern architecture/practices· Diagnose issues and implement fixes, and perform regression and general testing· Responsible for maintaining our cloud hosted servers (on Azure)· Management of existing team & the recruitment of additional programmers. Our short term strategy is to employ at least one additional programmer during 2022/23· Working closely across all business departments towards achieving short and long term strategic objectivesRequirementsWe are looking for a highly experienced and talented full-stack developer, who can cope with what is already a complex and multi-faceted system.Essential skills include:· 4-years-experience in successfully managing a team· Minimum of 4 years-experience in the software industry, preferably as a full-stack· Developer with a proven track record in delivery of systems· Experienced in keeping systems online, including database optimisation skills· Experience using C#/Azure/ SQL .Some experience of .Net Framework (MVC, Net Core, API’s)· A strong independent work ethic and an adept problem solver.· A passion for maintaining high uptime and low problem count in production.· Able to discuss and liaise with our customers and understand their businesses· Great leadership skills and a proven track record of managing a growing team· A natural ability to challenge and evaluate· Ability to fully understand the needs of our business and that of our customers· Ability to keep abreast of industry trends and new opportunities Desirable skills include:· Experience in cloud-based applications· An understanding of good user interface design and a good eye for design· The ability to co-ordinate and deliver projects on time and within budget. Remuneration and Benefits· The package is £70k-£90k per annum dependent on experience· Flexible working· 8% employer pension contribution· 28 days holiday per annum in addition to bank holidays· Non contributary healthcare scheme· Life Insurance / Death-in-service (4x salary)Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: £70,000.00-£90,000.00 per yearAdditional pay:Performance bonusBenefits:Casual dressCompany eventsCompany pensionFlexible scheduleLife insuranceOn-site parkingPrivate medical insuranceWellness programmesWork from homeSchedule:Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:Much Hadham, SG10 6AP: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)Education:Bachelor’s (preferred)Experience:Managing a Team: 4 years (preferred)
