Job Description : This position is for Life Science Digital team located at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore
IDC is a research and development center with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the center now hosts 500+ associates for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies includes Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, PID Digital, LS Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, IDBS, SCIEX, HemoCue, Videojet and Cepheid.
The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on development of software and hardware components of groundbreaking products for Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of hardworking software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists. As a Software Developer for Data & Analytics Platform (Cloud Engineer), you will join a team of skilled software engineers to drive Danaher’s Digital transformative initiatives in IoT, Data and Analytics (Machine Learning) platformstargeted at multiple market segments such as Life Sciences. You will be responsible for designing and implementing highly scalable, distributed, reliable cloud-native systems that will serve as the backbone of Danaher’s digital platforms. You will apply your knowledge and proficiency in architecting and coding software components that run on AWS (preferred) or Azure IaaS or PaaS infrastructure. You will work on Event driven systems that interact with back-end databases and other services. You will be called upon to solve complex analytical problems independently as well as with your team members. You will work with a globally distributed Agile team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy highly scalable backend cloud microservices based on distributed systems using Java/JEE.
Work with SW architects to understand the problem domain and produce creative solutions for new services.
Design and implement backend microservices based on AWS and/or Azure cloud components.
Create unit tests for software components and ensure adequate coverage is provided.
Interact with both business and technical stakeholders to deliver high quality products and services that meet/exceed business customer, and technical requirements.
Share code and design reviews with agile team
Integrate 3rd party software components into existing software applications
Work with geographically distributed teams while maintaining highest standards in collaboration and communication. Requirements
4-7 years of application development in Java/J2EE
Strong knowledge of Core Java, Spring(Core, SpringBoot), Hibernate /JDBC /JPA / ORM, JSON
Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming; Solid understanding and experience of Domain Modeling in relational and non-relational databases.
Experience with developer tools like git, Maven, Eclipse/Intellij or other major IDEs and commonly used open-source components.
Strong knowledge of build (Gradle/Maven), continuous integration (Jenkins), code quality analysis (SonarQube) and unit and integration testing (JUnit)
Knowledge of Web API implementations (SOAP, Web services, RESTful services etc) is necessary.
Proven prior hands-on experience (4+ years) in developing solutions using AWS Cloud services such as AWS Lambda, AWS S3, AWS DynamoDB, or equivalent, Cloud Formation, or other Big-Data solutions (Cloudera, Hortonworks, Databricks); Equivalent experience in Microsoft Azure will also be considered.
4+ years of prior experience designing and developing collection and storage for big data solutions using one or more of the following: MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redshift, ObjectStore, timeseries databases, HDFS/HBase, etc.
Experience in working on IOT/Cloud based projects, architecting, design and developing solutions preferably in Industrial automation domain related software products or platform is a plus.
Strong knowledge of IoT communication protocols: MQTT, OPC UA, REST APIs
Knowledge of working with IOT / Raspberry Pi, Cloud Technologies – IOT stack (IOT Edge, IOT Hub, Hot/Cold processing, Business integration), Cloud Architecture, container technologies (e.g: Docker)
Familiarity and deep knowledge of Big-Data related Apache open-source frameworks and services or Azure big data services is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand requirements and convert them to optimized technical solutions.
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
Experience with agile development methodology; Ability to work with multi-geography/site teams.
Clear written and verbal communications skills; Attention to detail, self-motivated, creative and flexible; Excellent time management and organizational skills.
A proven team player and problem solver with the ability to work collaboratively to brainstorm, uncover key issues, troubleshoot and recommend/implement solutions
