Role Description
The Cloud Engineering Lead will deliver strategic cloud infrastructure solutions by planning, directing, and leading the delivery with highly skilled DevOps teams. The focus of the role is to support and execute against the DWS business and IT strategy by providing a secure, reliable, flexible, sustainable and cost-efficient cloud environment leveraging modern cloud methodologies and tooling. The Cloud Engineering Lead will create goals and set direction for the team articulating the objectives and progress to senior organisational leadership.

Your key responsibilities
As you help us shape our new environment and ways of working your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Lead a multi skilled team of DevOps engineers consisting of DWS and vendor resources across multiple geographic locations.
Create a well-informed cloud engineering strategy and manage the adoption process
Define and build the cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet DWS strategic needs
Ongoing development and optimization of the DWS multi-cloud environment
Offer guidance in infrastructure and application migration approaches to the cloud
Work closely with CISO teams to monitor the company’s cloud security and privacy position
Keep up to date with industry trends evaluating relevant cloud platforms, tools & technologies
As a leader you will foster a culture of knowledge sharing both within and across teams
Use excellent communication skills to engage with peers and stakeholders at all levels
Your skills and experience
You will have excellent DevOps knowledge and experience at enterprise level along with a technically inquisitive and delivery focused mindset. The following is a list of technical areas you should have a deep understanding of along with examples of specific technologies where we would expect either demonstratable experience or an understanding of their function in a modern cloud environment.
Public cloud platforms: Ideally with GCP but if not Azure or AWS
Cloud hosting: SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, serverless, microservices, containers, storage, backup
Cloud workload deployment/migration: Plan, assess, design, build, run
DevOps approach: Agility, shift left, delivery, continuous feedback, customer centricity
Tooling: IaC, VCS, CI/CD, automation, config management, secret management, monitoring
Development skills: Terraform, Bash, PowerShell, Python, gcloud CLI, ARM, Bicep, Ansible
Cloud networking: VNet, subnets, routing, NGFW, load balancers, interconnects, VPN
Database platforms: Cloud SQL, Big Query, Big Table, Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL
Server environments: Windows, Linux, Unix, virtualization, physical
Financial Services or Asset Management experience is preferable
