We are looking for a Firmware QA Engineer with a passion for IoT. You will gain exposure as well as hands on experience supporting Ayla’s IoT platform and testing our customers’ connected devices. You love the tech side but also like the thrill of working directly with customers. You are a curious self-learner who adapts quickly to new technology. You work well with other engineers, are an independent worker, but are not afraid to ask for help and direction.
What You Will Be Doing
As a firmware QA engineer, you will be responsible for understanding the client requirements, test and validate the quality of device firmware.
You will be involved in design, implementation and executing the test cases for manual, automated and performance tests.
Collaborate with the firmware dev team to validate the firmware and log the defects using bug tracking tool (JIRA). Also follow up on the bugs/issues raised and drive it to resolution.
You will need to collaborate with other verticals such as the mobile and dashboard team to perform end to end testing.
Required Technical Skills and Qualifications
Hands on experience using flashing tools and handling of hardware safely
Hands on experience on configuring wireless routers for various tests
Hands on experience on working with wireless, Bluetooth and cellular modules
Basic knowledge on enabling automation for firmware testing
Basic knowledge on embedded operation system (such as RTOS), micro controllers
Basic understanding of protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP and SSL
Basic debugging skills with hardware
Must have knowledge in any one of the programming languages (C/python)
Must have a positive attitude and committed to high standards and demonstrate personal ownership of the work
Must have good communication skills
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer science / Electronics Engineering
Must have previous experience as a QA engineer in an embedded environment.
Optional Skills
Good to have knowledge on using tools such as curl, Postman etc.
Experience testing WLAN, using wireless sniffers and analyzing the packet captures
Good to have experience in IoT domain
