What you will learn and contribute to

As part of our team, you will:

Configuration and management of Splunk reports and dashboards.
Responsible for setting up the ingestion of various dataflows to include pre-processing data into a usable format.
Management (i.e. Adding, managing, troubleshooting) of Universal and Heavy Forwarders.
Manage Splunk app to measure performance, capacity, license, CPU, storage etc.
Set up Splunk search strings and operational strings.
Act as Splunk Technical expert and support for customer needs

Responsibility
Indexer management:
Memory consumption, target specific processes with high usage over generally high usage
Disk utilization
Indexes: sizing, bucket sizing, bucket age, excess buckets, etc.
Configuration: indexes conf conflicts, replication bundle issues, etc.
App Performance: Indexing rate, searches/min, long running searches, stuck search threads, replication issues, etc.

Search Head:
Memory usage by user
Disk usage by user
Poorly spread searches
Duplicate searches
Skipped searches
Bad searches
Bad dashboards
Disabled users
Orphaned KOs
Realtime searches
Aborted searches

Heavy Forwarder
Network Usage
Disk Usage
Data Collection issues(AWS Logs, duplicate syslog events, etc.)
Memory Usage(python scripts leaking memory)
Local indexing
Additional Splunk components, roles.

Universal Forwarders
Availability
Throughput
Throttling
Call home delays
Version
Local configurations

BackEnd
License Master availability
Cluster Master availability

License Pool management
System performance monitoring

Key Skills
Support engineering of monitoring tools and participate in the troubleshooting of issues
L2 level support of highly critical applications and issues
Perform Health Checks, address user queries, tickets
Troubleshoot issues and drive them to resolution
Experience in Unix, Shell scripting, Java
Experience in RDBMS, preferably Oracle, with the capability to write optimized complex SQL Queries
Experience in Application monitoring and production support
Knowledge of Regular expressions and usage
Knowledge of Splunk and its key components
Knowledge of Monitoring tools such as Splunk, App dynamics
Expertise in administering Splunk Enterprise Environment.
Troubleshooting Skills and isolating problems before contacting Splunk Vendor support.
Implement forwarder configuration, search heads and indexes.
Setup and support multiple data source configurations, Resolve configuration based issues
Set up Splunk search strings and operational strings.
Configuration and management of reports and dashboards.
Responsible for setting up the ingestion of various dataflows to include pre-processing data into a usable format.
Management (i.e. Adding, managing, troubleshooting) of Universal and Heavy Forwarders.
Manage Splunk app to measure performance, capacity, license, CPU, storage etc.

Your skills and experience

You have:

Experience in Application monitoring and production support
Knowledge of Splunk and its key components(Regular expressions and usage)
Knowledge of Monitoring tools such as Splunk, App dynamics
Expertise in administering Splunk Enterprise Environment

It would be nice if you also had:
Splunk Admin certificate
Experience in Unix, Shell scripting, Splunk dashboard creation
