Job Description : Java Developer
Benchmarks IT team is responsible for maintenance and development of applications used by the Benchmarks business for reporting on various markets wide benchmarks. LIBOR is the key benchmark which is extremely regulated and currently going under a reform phase (known as ‘Evolution of Libor’ (or EOL in short) in business regulatory terms).
Below summarises our current stack:
The system uses the Spring Boot framework to build a robust, extensible micro-service architecture hosting Java 8 services on windows app server.
The Netflix stack (Eureka, Zuul) is used throughout for service discovery, authentication and routing.
Web front-ends are built using JavaScript, ReactJS, Redux and Typescript.
Hibernate is used to connect to backend SQL-Server based database.
The role is for a Java developer to work on the implementation and enhancement of web-based LIBOR dashboard. The role involves:
Design and implementation of new features and bug fixes (ability to work with loosely defined requirements)
Ensure that system is performant, scalable and robust
Code & design reviews of work done by other developers on the team
Mentoring other junior developers
Experience required:
Java 8
Experience designing & implementing REST APIs and use of JSON
Test Driven Development and unit testing with JUnit
Spring Boot
Spring Cloud – Netflix stack (Eureka, Zuul)
Hibernate
SQL Server
Knowledge of OO, design patterns and SOLID design principles
Building and maintaining automated test harnesses comprised of unit -and integration tests using testing industry standard frameworks and mocking libraries
Working with Continuous Integration systems like TeamCity or Jenkins
Experience with standard software version control systems – ideally Git, Mercurial
Experience of providing support to Front Office business
Nice to have, but not essential:
Spring Data, JPA, Spring cloud – Hystrix
Maven, NPM, NodeJs
JavaScript
HTML5
ReactJS
Redux
Typescript
Knowledge of Middleware (Kafka / RabbitMq)
Excel, VBA, C++ and C#.
