About the team:
The Video Team at Canva is on a mission to make the default video editor for everyone. With millions of users using Canva every day, this is an opportunity to redefine visual and animated communication and have a global impact on the way people create content for video platforms.
Canva Video has one of the largest audiences of content creators in the world. You’ll be a key driver in helping achieve our vision of becoming the go-to video platform, and build a multimedia playground for everyone – from individuals to small businesses; from large organisations to NGOs.
Responsibilities
Building and maintaining a highly parallelized video processing pipeline
Offline export – in-browser and desktop app
Vector animations support (lottie) and HDR support
Hardware acceleration for BE export workflow, unblocking filters, and effects
Responsible for research and development work, as we are still in the early stages of projects and still establishing our video tech
Skills and Experience
Understanding of video domain: you know the difference between codecs and containers, terms such as tone mapping, colorSpace, framerate, timeline, bitrate, etc. are all basic knowledge to you
Previous experience working with or building audio and video tools and libraries such as FFmpeg
Experience with graphics programming (Vulkan, OpenGL)
Worked on designing and building highly distributed systems
Commercial experience developing complex web applications
Most of our code is in Java, so ideally you will be comfortable using Java or happy to learn!
AWS experience is welcome we use – ECS, SQS, S3
