Job Description
As the Lead Systems Architect, you will spearhead the design of a variety of projects in the VISA Merchant & Acquirer Processing (MAP PD) group. You will be a collaborator who will be depended on by delivery and execution teams to offer technical guidance and solution designs. In this role, you will have the opportunity to introduce new services that enhance existing products or enable new products; recommend and evangelize new technologies that will improve the status quo; offer technical solutions to Visa infrastructure that drives innovation when delivered and perform at a six 9s level.
You will drive technical solutions that have a direct impact on the payment industry. The solutions you design will be large scale, always available, secure, fast, accessible, and globally ready with an impact measured in future years.
Your solutions will be used by millions of people worldwide every minute of the day. As the Lead Systems Architect, you will have the opportunity to bring your creative curiosity and technology experience to work every day and help build platforms and solutions that are consumed across digital platforms to create seamless, fast, reliable and user-friendly experiences.
You will interact with organizational stake holders such as senior executives, senior product managers, and external partners like Fortune 100 system integrators, payment service providers, acquiring banks and merchants. You will have the opportunity to build technical solutions and influence release roadmaps.
You will be an integral part of the MAP PD Architecture Team and have the opportunity to build the Target State Architecture that delivers on the organizational vision for security, availability, reliability, quality, reusability and developer productivity across VISA’s global infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
You will define architecture for large and complex product development projects through clear and articulate diagrams and artifacts such as logical architectures, deployment topologies, sequence diagrams, functional decompositions and API swagger specs, among others.
You will lead Proof of Concept (POC) solutions as needed to vet technologies proposed in your architecture.
You will build architectures that are inherently secure, robust, scalable, reliable, extensible, modular and reusable.
You will ensure that project teams follow a common set of principles and patterns; and utilize approved set of technology frameworks, libraries and API standards.
You will actively contribute to the architecture community to define platform principles and standards, and to ensure that solutions are built in alignment with these.
You will apply architecture best practices to increase execution velocity, specifically as it relates to leveraging existing Visa shared assets.
You will define deployment topologies by partnering with peers across technology organization.
You will actively influence new/changing technology decisions.
You will demonstrate thought leadership through presentations and sessions across MAP PD.
You will lead key Visa and Cybersource technology initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Computer Science or other technology field; Typically requires 14-17 years of experience.Must have strong experience programming in Java.Must have strong experience in API design and in system and component design.
Must have strong experience in Micro Services, Service Mesh, Containers, DevOps.Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Should be comfortable facilitating multi-team activities.Must have strong leadership skills and comfortable presenting complex ideas to small and large groups in a clear and concise way. Candidate should be confident in their ability to influence and develop relationships with key partners.Experience in delivering enterprise-class, mission-critical, commercial, and scalable products, at least 3 years of which were in the role of an architect or a lead developer.Experience in Security: Web and backend (especially B2B security – authentication, authorization and encryption)Experience with web services standards and related technologies (HTTP(s), REST, JSON).Experience working with a variety of Application Servers and Databases such as Tomcat and Oracle.Experience with database technologies such as MongoDB or Cassandra and messaging middleware such as Kafka, ZMQ is a plus.Experience in Web Application Development is a plus.Experience in user space: user enrollment, user authentication, user authorization, user preferences is a plus.Experience in Mobile Application Development (iOS and Android) is a plus
