Our client delivers electricity to residential customers and businesses across their transmission network and provides network connections for large-scale generators and major industrial customers.

Working alongside the Lead Planning Engineer, the Network Planning Engineer will join a high performing team that manages the extra-high voltage (EHV), high voltage (HV), and low voltage (LV) networks in Victoria to ensure the network complies with all relevant standards while also focussing on Distribution and Infrastructure works.
Principal Responsibilities:
Design the electrical network and associated projects to comply with all relevant standards and optimise synergies between the Distribution and Infrastructure network;
Determine the appropriate point of connection and design associated reinforcement for new load and generation enquiries, while maximising network development synergies and ensure an organized service to all customers;
Perform Active Network Management (ANM) assessments for generation connections;
Analyse network issues and performance problems, and propose technically sound solutions;
Undertaking network analysis including power flow studies;
Produce concise business cases in the correct format and present them for authorisation promptly to achieve the Asset Portfolio Plan (APP)
Support the Asset Performance team with the production of programs of work (such as the switchgear replacement program)
Determine protection settings for the secondary network, and draw high-level protection diagrams for the EHV network schemes; and
Engage with Connections, Procurement, Project Managers, Land Access teams.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Experience with electricity distribution networks;
Tertiary qualified in Electrical Engineering;
Experience in electrical distribution network design and planning would be a major advantage;
Experience in network modeling would be a major advantage;
Experience in LV and HV Operational role will be an advantage;
Understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations;
Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills are necessary; and
Good ability to relate to people including the ability to work with partners to resolve problems and ensuring that unresolved problems are brought to the attention of management.
