THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Data & Integration Specialist (Data Engineer) who will be responsible for the scoping, design and technical implementation of integration and data pipelines in support of a range of exciting IT integration, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives. This role is part of a team that provides IT project delivery services to the University and University Hospital. We work directly with analytics, architecture, and IT operations teams to ensure our integration and data architecture is aligned with the University’s strategic objectives and plans.
The University is embarking on an ambitious digital transformation journey, and this is a rare opportunity to be involved in shaping the University’s integration landscape for improved service performance, resilience, and agility.
About You
You will be an experienced data engineer who has worked on major systems integration and data analytics projects in complex heterogenous environments. You will have strong Python scripting and Postgres DB skills, and experience with modern cloud technologies including AWS, Airflow, and Snowflake. Experience in the higher education and/or health sectors will also be highly regarded.
You will have a solid understanding of contemporary data modelling and data engineering practices and governance; and be able to develop integration patterns and establish standards according to best practice approaches. You will be a self-starter and enjoy working in a dynamic environment as a team player, are motivated and driven by the outcomes and challenges of delivering standards-based and fit-for-purpose integration solutions, with a methodical and consultative approach in your work.

Tertiary qualifications in a related field or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
Knowledge and experience as a subject matter expert in one or more relevant scripting languages, data modelling tools, data pipeline technologies, database platforms, and/or application integration and data integration platforms and technologies, which may be supported by relevant certifications.
Demonstrated evidence of higher order analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving skills applied to the relevant data or integration specialisation and technology platform.
Technical leadership of the implementation of data and/or integration solutions for complex enterprise systems within complex multi-stakeholder and formalised project delivery environments.
