An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Mentoring and Transition Officer to join our dynamic team.

Salary Package: From $97,783 to $106,018 (HEW Level 7), plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
Appointment Type: Full time, fixed term contract until 31 December 2023
Location: North Ryde, Macquarie Park
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager Programs & Pathways, you will:
Lead and manage the development and coordination of the delivery of Widening Participation initiatives, with a particular focus on engaging with students from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
Identify emerging issues and develops new policies, strategies and/or programs to provide transition support for equity cohorts.
Design and develop mentor training programs and manage the delivery of these programs.
Monitor the impact and effectiveness of mentor activities aimed at widening participation in higher education.
Recruit and develop a network of skilled and engaged mentors to support the implementation of mentoring programs.
Engage with schools and communities to expand LEAP programs and other emergent pathways.
Research, analyse and make recommendations on current best practice in school and community engagement programs for the development of future strategies, particularly around refugee and asylum seekers.
About You

You will build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, including external partners from diverse backgrounds to work in collaboration to achieve shared goals.
You will deliver strong experience in event coordination and project deliver. You will work g independently, and as a member of a team with a ‘can do’ and proactive attitude.
You will have an eye for detail, deliver strong communication and organisation skills and you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
About Us

The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Programs and Pathways) develops and drives the University’s strategy for building and enhancing entry and progression pathways and, with the Pro-Vice Chancellor Learning and Teaching, leads the ongoing improvement of academic offerings at Macquarie. The Widening Participation Unit within that portfolio works to meet the University’s commitment to the national widening participation agenda by designing and delivering initiatives that engage disadvantaged and underrepresented students with enriching educational opportunities that encourage them to realise their learning potential.

Degree and/ or relevant work experience of at least four years in providing services to equity cohorts, preferably including those from refugee and humanitarian-entrant backgrounds.
High level interpersonal and communication skills including working effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
Experience designing, developing and managing initiatives to enable student success.
Experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Experience in event coordination and project delivery.
Experience in volunteer recruitment and management.
