We build utility solutions for the nation’s 60 million-strong SMB sector. Our first product Khatabook– an Android App that enables businesses to digitally record the credit they extend to customers – went viral. In a matter of 18 months, Khatabook was downloaded 30M times; more and more businesses are joining this bandwagon since then. Khatabook recorded transactions of a whopping total of $3 Bn in August 2019.
About the market we serve
A traditional, unorganized sector controls 90% of India’s ~$1 Trillion Retail Market. This means ~$900B worth of commerce flows through ~60M small and medium shops, warehouses, kiosks, and even homes scattered across mighty metros and tiny villages in the country. A network powered by millions of businesses, built in turn to power these businesses – that’s our goal at Khatabook.

We are a small team based in Bengaluru and are on a lookout for great talents to hop on to our rocketship.
Who are we searching for
Having said all of that, the product team at Khatabook is focused at delivering solutions that help SMBs make their businesses a lot easier. As a senior UX writer in this team, you will be required to design content solutions for the suite of apps Khatabook has. We are looking for someone who can empathise with the users we serve and deliver researched content that enables them to easily navigate our products and accomplish their intended goals including (but not limited to) user navigation, error messages, onboarding flows, feature naming, tooltips, etc.
We wish to find someone who has
Proficiency in understanding and devising content solutions in English suitable for Indian users from Tier 2 and Tier-3 Indian cities
Experience collaborating with engineers, designers, marketers, product managers, etc.
Ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time
Relevant experience in designing user-centric content for digital apps, e-commerce platforms, digital marketing etc.
An online portfolio of UX-focused writing samples highlighting your approach and content solutions
At least a Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing or related fields
On a typical day, you’ll –
Design content solutions to enhance UX and make interactions across all our apps simpler, useful and more human.
Interact cross-functionally with product, engineers, marketing, and other teams to consume ideas, understand functionality, user requirements etc. in order to craft useful copy.
Apply a customer-centric approach in your content solutions because customer-centricity is a core organizational value.
Be a subject matter expert for data-backed, human-centered content within the team.
Plan, document, and maintain writing guidelines and word lists/glossary for internal stakeholders.
Help devise scalable language and design systems to support and meet scaling business requirements.
