AWS World Wide Specialists Organization is looking for an experienced and motivated technologist with a passion for creating strategies, best practices, and solving complex business challenges focusing on our portfolio of Container Services. You will provide expertise to help grow the adoption of a portfolio of services that includes (but is not limited to): Amazon Elastic Container Service, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, AWS Fargate, Amazon Elastic Container Registry, and AWS App Mesh. As a Solutions Architect focusing on Container Services, you will be working with a broad range of customers including the largest enterprises, independent software vendors, and hottest start-ups to shape and scale mission critical solutions, platforms, and applications. You will have the opportunity to help influence and deliver on strategies to redefine how customers create, compute, and consume cloud services at a scale never seen before.

As a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect (SA) for Container Services you will be one of a team of recognised experts in AWS container technologies, and have a passion for solving complex business challenges through cloud and complimentary technologies. You will work directly with our amazing customers – earning trust to understand their requirements and providing the appropriate mix of strategic and tactical guidance as you assist the customer to turn their strategies into reality. All the while being customer obsessed and representing the voice of the customer as you work with product teams to evolve AWS products to inform our next generation of service offerings. You will partner with Go-To-Market (GTM) leaders to understand customer and partner requirements, and will use your technical expertise to help develop sales programs and identify new workloads, segments, and opportunities that can be served by AWS Container Services. As a thought leader you will have awareness of current and future technological directions, and will share your expertise and best practice through creation/curation of technical content and other artefacts delivered through different mediums. You will be adept at communicating and partnering with other teams within AWS including product/service teams, field solutions architecture, sales, marketing, business development, and professional services in order to deliver results.

Successful candidates will also possess:

Deep technical skill and interest in software architecture and cloud computing.
A thorough understanding of cloud-native architectures, container orchestration, microservices and operational best practices in the cloud.
An awareness and appreciation of emerging technologies and their impact on cloud and container services.
Customer facing skills ideally gained within a partner/consulting organization, and have demonstrated the ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

Key job responsibilities

As a key member of the business development and sales team, ensure customers are successful in building and migrating applications, software, and services using AWS Container Services.
Bring together and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solutions architect community, especially in regards to Container solutions and patterns.
Exhibit Thought Leadership. Evangelize AWS Services and Container Service solutions that benefit customers. Share best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public speaking events such as AWS Summit and AWS re: Invent. Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.
Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams, and support.

Technical degree in computer science, math, or engineering such as a Master’s degree
Hands on experience leading software development teams, building microservice architectures, such as projects in the software development or Internet industries
Advanced knowledge of containers scheduling (Kubernetes and/or ECS), service discovery and service mesh (Envoy, Istio, AppMesh, etc.) and observability (Prometheus, Elastic/OpenSearch, CloudWatch, X-Ray, etc.) solutions – ideally including understanding the pros and cons of the various options and ability to help customers to navigate decisions between them
Understanding of application, server, web services and network security practices
Ability to work in a polyglot environment – flexibility around learning new programming languages and tools
Track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of business environments such as large enterprises and start-ups
AWS Certifications, e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional
Kubernetes Certifications, e.g. Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
Experience with public speaking such as giving conference talks
