Job Description : Collins is looking for a Senior Platform Software Engineer to provide technical excellence in the fast growing Cabin Systems market. You will be involved in all stages of the product development life-cycle across various products. Tasks will include designing systems solutions for complex systems, implementing systems solutions from existing designs, systems documentation and testing. Selected individual will be the focal for our audio/displays and networking integration on existing platforms.
You will work with customers and team members in a technologically advanced and challenging field supporting the development of new features and functionality across multiple products ranging from: Netflix like streaming service, wireless technology, Android/IOS App development, 3D Graphics with OpenGL, Embedded Java development, graphical user interface development with emphasis on user experience and cabin entertainment systems and helping to bridge consumer electronics to the aerospace industry. Position will be onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. Relocation assistance is available.
Primary Responsibilities:
Writing code for new features for an existing product line.
Debugging issues in the lab.
Ensuring the code meets requirements.
Creating and executing tests.
Creating, leading and participating in code peer reviews.
Supporting product integration.
Collaborating and working with remote peers.
Creating, leading and presenting product roadmaps.
Mentoring.
Leading a large product team.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) ) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Experience with the following programming languages: Java, C/C++
Extended experience with Linux Operating Systems.
Extended experience writing Linux low level device drivers.
Extended experience integrating debugging hardware in the lab.
Extended experience working with board support packages from hardware vendors.
Extended experience integrating and configuring low level software.
Extended understanding of kernel space systems.
Extended experience in systems integration.
Extended experience with either: audio/displays/network based technologies.
Experience with debugging software
Preferred Qualifications:
Extended knowledge of systems engineering tools and processes.
Practical experience in all aspects/phases of product design & test
Experience and/or knowledge of scripting languages: Javascript, Python, Perl
Experience with Eclipse IDE development environment on Linux operating system.
Experience coding networked and multi threaded applications.
Experience with both waterfall and Agile development life cycles.
