As an Enterprise Network Virtualization Engineer, you will be engaged with cutting edge designing, implementation, problem solving and troubleshooting NSX products and services. You will be responsible to provide technical support to both staff and customers who are working to implement and manage VMware NSX platform and related SDN products.
If you are passionate about Networking, Security, Cloud automation and Virtualization and want to use your core networking skills of products like Cisco, Juniper, Palo alto etc., then this is the place you want to be.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within 30 days of employment, become competent with basis Data center fundamentals, VMware network virtualization guidelines and standard operations.
Withing 90 days you will become a trained engineer on NSX products’ implementation, configuration, management and understanding its platform architecture and design
In 180 days, you will be able to handle customers break-fix issues, engage in complex escalations and contribute to technical leadership role to proactively identify opportunities / share knowledge. Exhibit situational leadership and ability to deal with ambiguity. Align with business/team priorities and be an early adopter of key initiatives
Within 360 days along with the above, you will be a trained professional in troubleshooting NSX products and attend production impact issues and become an independent Network virtualization break-fix professional. Communicate and collaborate with staff in quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, field, operations, and administration to resolve problems and build integrated approach to delivering quality support solutions. Partner with leadership on short & long-term business & team strategies and be a strong GS advocate with customers and internal stakeholders
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:
Troubleshoot, analyze, investigate and fix NSX related issues
Lead debug and recovery efforts working closely with engineering
Resolve highly complex technical issues through diligent research, reproduction, and troubleshooting
Provide technical support to VMware customers and frontend escalations for strategic/high-priority accounts
Own and drive the Customer Experience throughout the lifecycle of the Service Request to resolution.
Provide backline support on break-fix cases
Resolve all technical issues through diligent research, lab reproduction, and troubleshooting.
Troubleshoot and engage with NSX Engineering on customer reported issues, including identifying viable workarounds.
Mentor and provide training to other technical GS staff in Network troubleshooting topics
Work directly with staff in quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and administration to resolve problems
Monitor and track task progress and resolve high-level problems to drive efficiency in the escalation triage
Document all technical inquiries; develop and review content for knowledge base.
Participate in testing alpha and beta products and provide feedback to Engineering.
Be an advocate for network virtualization, educate GSS on the NSX platform
Mentor and provide product troubleshooting training to other technical GS staff
Travel to Customer sites and represent VMware GS
Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of cloud computing and networking applications, industry directions, and trends.
Provide clear and constructive product feedback to VMware Product Management teams based on customer use-cases and requirements.
Work collaboratively with global peers, product management, technical marketing and engineering during the development, launch and continuing refinement of NSBU / SDN products.

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
