Position Summary:

The Technical Writer position will be responsible for creating all customer-facing and internal documentation to support our product line. You will work closely with your Product Management, Product Owner, and Development teams to iteratively produce product documentation including but not limited to: API documentation, Release Notes, User Guides, On-Line help, Technical and Onboarding Guides. You will be the primary technical writer for several scrum teams and will participate in daily standups, weekly development showcases, and monthly Stakeholder meetings to continuously create, edit, and improve our product documentation. You will be expected to conduct formal reviews of your documentation output and manage consolidation of feedback into the final version that will accompany each product release. You will create operating instructions, how-to manuals, and “frequently asked questions” pages to help technical support staff, consumers, and other users within a company. After a product is released, you will work with customer service managers to improve documentation and self learning content.

Essential Job Functions:

Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation
Study product samples and talk with product designers and developers
Organize and write supporting documents for products including: API documentation, Release Notes, User Guides, On-Line help, Technical and Onboarding Guides.
Work with our learning team to build out learning curriculums
Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding
Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos
Standardize content across platforms and media
Gather usability feedback from customers, and internal stakeholders
Revise documents as new issues arise
Attend Scrum meetings and interpret requirements and developed features into documentation deliverables
Develop, gather, and disseminate technical information among customers, implementation, and support teams

Required Skills:

Bachelors degree related to technology and/or writing
Ability to take complex, technical information and translate it for colleagues and consumers who have nontechnical backgrounds.
Ability to create detailed instructions for others to follow.
Ability to think about a product feature in the way that a person without technical experience would think about it.
Ability work well with others.
Ability to understand and then explain highly technical information.
Excellent writing skills to be able to explain technical information clearly, including good grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
Candidates must provide a 1 page writing sample.

Preferred Skills:

5+ years experience as a Technical Writer or similar
Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently
Experience with Agile development
Knowledge of JIRA, Aha!, and Microsoft Office

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in technology, communication or writing related major
