GENERAL SUMMARY:
We are seeking a clinical research assistant to work in the Technology and Aging Lab within the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry at McLean Hospital, under the supervision of Ipsit Vahia, M.D. The Technology and Aging Lab features a cutting-edge program studying digital technologies and their potential for enhanced diagnostics and personalized care. The range of the lab’s activities include developing and testing applications for digital tools in diagnosing behavioral symptoms in older adults, as well as the study of digital therapeutics in late life. This program is the only one of its kind, and interfaces with the Institute for Technology and Psychiatry at McLean Hospital. McLean Hospital maintains the largest neuroscience and psychiatry research program of any private psychiatric hospital in the United States and was named the #1 Freestanding Psychiatric Hospital in the country by U.S. News and World Report.
In this position, you would be working under the supervision of a Senior Research Assistant, Manager or Principal Investigator and follow established policies and procedures. The clinical research assistant provides assistance on clinical research studies and may be responsible for the following activities: recruiting and evaluating patients for studies; collecting and organizing patient data; scheduling patients for and conducting study visits; maintaining and updating data generated by the study, interfacing with various digital companies; assuring Institutional Review Board Compliance, and preparing/submitting literature reviews or other manuscripts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or BA required.
Relevant course or project work.
Travel between sites is a requirement of this position. Driver’s license is preferred.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides assistance on clinical research studies as per study guidelines and protocols.
Recruits and evaluates potential study patients. Per protocol instruction, conducts telephone interviews, schedules patient for study visits, and perform clinical symptom rating scales.
Interact with patients/subjects with regard to study, including patient education, procedural instruction, follow-up. May serve as a liaison between patient and physician.
Responsible for collecting data and maintaining patient information database for study. May be required to input data, do minimum analysis and run various reports. Maintains patients records as part of record keeping function.
Responsible for mailing various study information or packets to study participants.
Answers phone calls and inquiries regarding study protocol. Refers participants when appropriate to supervisor or clinical staff.
Monitors and sets up any needed equipment.
Maintains inventory and orders supplies when necessary.
Performs various other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and respect for subjects’ rights and needs are required for working with the study participants.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to follow and perform clinical research protocols.
Knowledge of basic computer programs and basic computer skills for communication, clinical, and administrative purposes
Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
Careful attention to detail.
Experience working with tools or skills relevant to digital mental health such as app development, programming, data analytics and visualization are valued but not required.
