Purpose of the job
Data is central to Collinson’s interests and the industry moves fast. This crucial role will ensure that Collinson establishes and maintains a position operating at the cutting edge of innovation and modern data-integrated solutions to our clients and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Development, testing, deployment and maintenance of integration (ETL) , querying and visualisation solutions
Ability to understand, analyse and map business requirements onto data processing design and architecture
Advocate data quality, accuracy, validity, and governance controls
Shape, implement and improve existing processes for data integration projects to be in line with industry best practice
Consult on data and application integration best practices and optimise performance of ETL solutions
Support projects for migrating legacy ETL technology workloads to the modern stack (SQL server to Datalake)
Maximise the use of automation in all projects and initiatives
Documentation of solutions in line with best practices
Design the logical and physical data models using the dimensional modelling techniques
Be a proactive team player for group wide data initiatives
Create POC’s for new tools, technologies and services to understand the benefits and opportunities for new emerging technologies
R&D – both for the products we support and other new group products in the market place
Knowledge, skills and experience required
2+ years experience of development/testing and managing ETL technologies (SQL Server/MySQL/PostgreSQL etc.)
1+ years experience in delivering and managing BI solutions (Tableau/Alteryx)
1+ years experience working with Cloud Computing
1+ years experience working with Hive/Presto
1+ years experience working with Python
Data modelling skills, Strong awareness of the appropriate application of de-normalisation, aggregation, warehousing and data lakes
Experience using AWS, Spark, Apache Nifi, Airflow, UIPath, Github and Jira is beneficial but not essential
Ability to turn ideas into solutions
Understanding of the data technology landscape, how to apply data integration processes to it
Strong communication skills and an analytical mind
