Role: Engineering Manager, Software
Location: Pune, India
To support our growth, we are recruiting a Software Development Lead – Backend for our Talend Data Governance Platform team in Pune. This team provides all necessary services to support Talend’s products requirements. All these services must comply with the expected 99.9% SLA requirement.
We are looking for an experienced lead developer comfortable with Java, Spring Boot, Docker & Kubernetes but also experienced in debugging distributed systems.
The ideal candidate should be well-versed with the entire software development lifecycle from development to production monitoring. Apart from possessing strong technical skills, the candidate should show a strong bias for action. He should be open-minded and comfortable with the motto: “You design it, you build it, you operate it”.

Architecture & Development
1. Develop prototypes quickly to drive platform innovation
2. Recommend technical strategy and direction in area(s) of expertise
3. Build services that support large, complex applications.
4. Conduct complex analysis and provide recommendations on the utilization of emerging and existing technologies
5. Build new high-level designs as required
Mentoring & Leadership
1. Take initiative and share innovative design patterns and frameworks, balancing implications of these choices on application usability, performance, and maintainability
2. Manage a group of ~8 software engineers responsible for delivering scalable and performant platform
3. Lead by example, care for your team and always be there for them
4. Coach, guide, inspire and motivate team members

DevOps & Testing
1. Analyze and improve efficiency, stability, and scalability of services
2. Build 360-Degree monitoring dashboards of your Microservices
3. Strong Java skills
4. Feel comfortable with our current tech stack: NoSQL, RDMS, Spring, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, various cloud technologies
5. You like most of our methods: Agile, continuous integration, automation, Iterative delivery
About you:
1. Graduated in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience;
2. Experience in delivering results in rapid release cycles;
3. Professional Java programming experience with RESTful, Message-/Event-Driven technologies, distributed applications;
4. For you, it does matter whether an API call takes 1200ms or 200ms
5. An understanding of distributed and cloud computing, incl. deployment related experience (ideally including Docker, AWS);
6. Experience working in Agile/Iterative/Scrum development experience;
7. Experience with Test-driven development/Unit Testing and automation;
8. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in English, both verbally and in writing;
9. Self-motivated with strong organizational/prioritization skills and ability to multi-task with close attention to detail;
10. Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Prometheus would be a plus.
