Job Description : PurposeThis role is required to ensure the smooth running of the NHUC finance function, such that information is available for management to manage the organisation, workforce are paid on time and payments and reporting to pensions and tax authorities are made on a timely basis.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccounts Production of monthly income & expenditure and balance sheet reporting for senior managementMaintenance of the company’s accounting systems, including finance, payroll and expense claim systemsImplementation / development and application of financial controls within the organisationPreparation of year end accounts and liaison as necessary with the auditorsEnsuring the transactions are appropriately accounted for for VAT and that returns are submitted to HMRC on time. To include liaison with tax advisors where necessaryCashSales invoices are raised promptly and delays in settlement are promptly escalatedPurchase invoices are promptly processed and are authorised in line with the Standing Financial InstructionsCashflow is managed to avoid overly excess funds being carried in the current accountFinance duties, in particular with regard to the online banking system, are segregated as far as possible within the small finance teamBank accounts are reconciled weeklyPayPayroll is run on time and payments made to the workforce, HMRC, pensions organisations etc on timeThe payroll process is resilient and can withstand the absence of key personnel at critical times of the month. To achieve this it is expected that payroll duties are documented and that duties are shared and rotated through the finance teamMaintenance of records to evidence performance of employment status checks for workforce engaged other than via payroll. Liaison with operational teams, who perform the tests, and reporting to senior manager of the status of the testing programmeStaffLeadership and development of the Finance Manager and his / her direct report(s)Information Asset OwnerLead, foster and promote a culture of effective information governance within business area.
