Job Description : We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our forward thinking, eco conscious company located in Perth. Voyager is a Health and Wellness company focusing on Hemp and CBD which is a very fast-growing and progressive industry.We commenced operations in 2020 so this is an opportunity to join an ambitious business at an early stage and play a key role in its future growth. You will be joining a small but established sales team. The role is a ‘hands-on’ role reporting to and working closely with the CEO with admin support.We are listed on the Aquis stock exchange and so the role will comprise day-to-day bookkeeping, preparation of management accounts and budgets, overseeing payroll, handling VAT returns, treasury management, preparation of our interim and final results and managing our end of year audit. In addition, you will support the CEO in handling our HR matters. We have 20 staff at present but are continually expanding.Our ongoing focus is to significantly increase the sales of the company’s products. Sales are made through our own ecommerce websites, third party websites and online marketplaces, our three stores in St Andrews, Edinburgh and Dundee and around 80 other stores and concessions. In addition, we have a small but growing number of trade customers that we manufacture for.You will be primarily based in our office in Perth, joining a team of seven, although we do support flexible working as appropriate.The role will suit a self-starter with ambition to join a company looking to become one of the best brands in its field. Lateral thinking and proactive suggestions are essential. We are a small and friendly team so we are looking for a flexible individual who is happy to take on a variety of tasks according to the requirements of the business from week to week. You will be encouraged to put forward your own ideas for business growth and also be involved with new product development. This role has the scope to develop into a significant position within the company over time.Main duties and responsibilitiesManagement accountsAll processing associated with the monthly management accounts including management of sales invoicing and receipts, supplier payments, payroll, stock movements, accruals and prepayments.Operation of the company’s financial reporting system, Xero, and future development to provide efficiencies.Preparation of monthly management group report which includes P&L, balance sheet and other sales related reports.Analysis of monthly profit and loss v budget together with detailed commentary.Half yearly P&L and balance sheet reporting.Preparation of year end accounts with full balance sheet reconciliations.BudgetingResponsible for all budgeting and forecasting for the company and specifically:January/February – P&L forecast for next yearReforecasting each month P&L to build up to year end position for current year performanceCash flow forecasts prepared as and when required.Audit and publication of resultsResponsible for all aspects of the year end audit process , including preparing the preliminary accounts and all information required by auditors.Payroll / HRResponsible for the processing of all staff salaries.Completing any compliance reports for HMRC both monthly and annually.Responsible for the HR administration department.Responsible for providing induction packs for all new employees.Administration of company pension scheme complying with government guidelines are adhered to re payments etc.Other areas / dutiesReconciling bank statements and managing all day-to-day payments and receipts.Credit control – in liaison with other members of the team responsible for the recovery of all outstanding debtors on an ongoing basis.Responsible for completion of the quarterly VAT return.Responsible for computing and organising the annual corporation tax return.Involvement in preparation and claims for any government grant claims.Responsible for the renewal of the company’s insurances.Assistance in solving system issues.Person SpecificationYou will be an experienced and inspiring finance leader with a proven track record. Equally comfortable developing strategy at Executive Team level as well as delving in operationally to deliver against day to day deadlines.You will also possess the following:ExperienceA recognised professional financial qualification with a proven track record as a successful finance professionalA track record of developing and improving management information through the use of data driven insight, analytics tools and processesExperience and knowledge of management accounts, cashflow and year end accountingExperience leading and/or supporting high-level organisational decision-makingSolid experience of business management, including demonstrable skills in risk analysis, forecasting and problem solvingExperience of assessing commercial contracts and it would be desirable to have any capital development and fundraising experienceFamiliarity with Xero would be an advantage as would working in the retail, e-commerce or health & wellness sectors.CapabilitiesExperience of working collaboratively within a leadership teamA strategic thinker with excellent communication skillsAttention to detailAbility to act as a powerful advocate on our behalf, being enthusiastic and passionate – it is critical to our success that our staff develop an interest in our industrySalary and benefitsFor the right candidate, we will pay a competitive salary commensurate with the challenges of the role, 21 days’ annualised holiday allowance plus 9 bank holidays, pension contribution and other benefits.
